It is indeed a Sword of Kusanagi, a chokuto rather than Katana. What is it's special property? I heard it was unbreakable, but I'm not entirely sure.

It's not unbreakable, but it was stated to be "able to cut through almost anything". It's cutting power can be enhanced by Raiton as well since Raiton naturally grants cutting/piercing power.

Orochimaru kept the better version for himself. As his can extend a great length, & was shown to be able fight for Oro telekinetically.

Or both. With raiton added to the sword. But Kishi focused more on Raikiri having the ability to cut through anything.

iirc it had that hype since Part 1, But don't quote me on it.
Even Hiruzen's summon Enma in admantine staff form said he'd be "sore" after taking blows from that thing.

It's special power is that it's a bloody good sword. Sasuke uses Raiton to improve it's cutting power, but other than that, it's just a very sharp piece of metal.
