Prison inmates in the U.S are very discriminatory towards gays, transgenders, cops, and the likes. Cops as far as I know get the harshest treatment, so much so that most of the times they're put in solitary confinement.

Extremely hard to change such a system, there's even been reports of the guards themselves discriminating, the worst case is rikers island where the guards even had their own fight club system going on. Heck the guards even sold drugs. U.S prisons are a complete mess on the inside, though the state, local, and federal authorities who are completely aware, do nothing about it.
