It seemed obvious at marineford that Oda considered Crocodile to be in the same league as Doflomingo and Mihawk (Dont confuse same league as me meaning strong as). And this was a man who was fresh out of prison with no training or growth since luffy put him down.

Heck we already saw most of it in MF, Alabasta Croc should have got shafted in MF. No way in hell he was training with seastone cuffs, thats a retcon on full blast lol and its quite obvious.

I can already see the theme of it too: "He was too used to living in paradise that his skill and sharpness took a heavy hit, now he has regained his prime form"

And there's one coming for Moriah too lol "After facing defeat from Kaido he started to rely too much on zombie minions and his own strength deteriorated". Basically the "true" form of the Shichibukai.

I guess you missed the fight between Doflamingo and Crocodile during the war, where it was hinted multiple times that they were near or of the same strength.

A First Mate is the top officer on board a ship after the captain. Mostly, they may fill a number of roles from checking stock to making sure everyone else is doing their job on the ship. They answer only to one person on a ship, the captain.

If Croc is in the same league as Mihawk, then he is an admiral/Yonko level fighter, doesn't matter if he isn't as strong as Mihawk. Croc attacked Doflamingo with his hook and Doflamingo casually blocked it, how does that put Croc on Doffy's level? 1st division commander =/= first mate.

There is little chance for that retcon you're talking about to happen. Like i've said before, the best i see from Crocodile is to remain dangerous through the search of ancient weapons. At worse, he would just be a side character appearing here and there. Oda can make mistakes here and there but he isn't that incoherant of an author(like Kishi) for me to believe otherwise

Even after Crocodile's defeat, he implied through fellow shichibukais(Kuma) that Lucci was more dangerous and in an SBS, he said that even knowing the baroque works organization, he would be at 150Millions or so. I really see nothing that suggest he'd grow that strong
