Who is don freeces?

Remember when Gon was talking to Gon about the Dark continent? He told Gon that the only person who has been there is Don Freeces who wrote the book Hourney to the new world or something, and that he is probably alive, despite being 300+ years.

OT: I honestly think that Zeno is stronger than Pouf, i also think that Adult Gon is stronger than Maha because the guy is old af at this point, maybe in his prime he was stronger but not anymore.

I hope so but I strongly doubt it. Also Adult Gon is as strong as the King yet I put him below Netero.
Can anyone tell me why I would do that? If Adult Gon surpasses Netero then shouldn't he be above him?

Infact, any of the Royal Guard are stronger than Netero yet I put him above them.
