The character, he was teased as some huge prodigy. Did he even use Chidori in the movie? His rasengan was fodder, Konohamaru had a better rasengan at that age. The massive rasengan wasnt even his, again that is some overly hyped shit. Just mastered kage bunshin in the movie, so thats not as impressive as we assumed it was mastered in gaiden. AND above everything else, he fricken cheated in the chunin exams! That device is some fodder bull shit that someone like rock lee with no taijutsu would need to use. He needed that to device to win, he is no prodigy. sorry not bashing, spitting facts. Sarada > Boruto honestly.
Yeah that disappointed me too. I thought he'd be a mix of Naruto and Sasuke. Kishimoto could have easily given him lightning nature and Chidori. Instead he just has wind nature and rasengan...sound familiar?

So wait what wind style? i thought in the trailer he had chidori. i feel like kishimoto wrote the whole film, then rewrote it. think about it sarada is in the chunin exam arena in part 1 in the first trailer. also sarada was not much of a rival for boruto... in the sense they didnt talk too much about being rivals
Boruto fan's were excited in the beginning, were confused when the spoilers came out, but came out victorious again. Not only is Boruto a Genius, he also got great character development for his cheating. Anyway here are Boruto's abilities:
Boruto can use the shadow clone jutsu. Four is his maximum from memory, either that or five.
Boruto stated himself in Naruto's office in the beginning of the movie that he can already use; Kage Bunshin, Fuuton, Raiton, and lately Suiton without any training at all!

<--- Footage /w translation-summary
Boruto has Gentle Fist Taijutsu without the Byakugan
Boruto learned how to curve his Shuriken like Sasuke, and learned how to ricochet his shuriken off of each other to hit blind spots like Itachi (Learned it from Sasuke)
Boruto can use the Rasengan which is the same size as Konohamaru's, at the end of the movie you see Boruto creating a normal sized Rasengan by himself (right before his team mates go fight the Panda to save Konohamaru right before end credits)
Boruto can apply an elemental nature to his Rasengan without being instructed to do so.
It was stated that a shinobi who can spatially and elementally recompose their chakra is limited to only a certain number, meaning it's rare.

Since Kakashi wasn't able to do this, he had to create the Chidori which required less skill to perform than applying an elemental nature to the Rasengan.

Kakashi stated that it takes an incredible amount of skill, or natural talent/sense. To which he than further pointed out that not only did he fail, but the original creator of this technique (Minato).

It was stated that the reason Naruto himself couldn't pull this feature off is because it took too much concentration to create the Rasengan, and to add a nature transformation with it would be impossible. Which is why Kakashi came up with the idea of using shadow clones to divide the parts, which does make it easier, but still requires the user to pull of this grand feature with hard-work. Meanwhile Boruto was capable of doing this without shadow clones at all, meaning he is pulling the impossible.
Mind us that Naruto began to use Rasenshuriken without clones after he gained Rikudou powers.
Anyway if anyone can prove someone else in this generation can stand up to this with given facts, outside of speculation. Then I'll enjoy the debate. Otherwise I'm just going to shake my head, he's clear cut the most talented of his Generation hands down. What makes it worse is that he never trained
The reasoning for Boruto cheating is much more complicated than it seems. It has him being deceived, him wanting to impress his father so that he can surpass his ability, meeting the status quo (not believing in himself despite being a 'Prodigy'), and so much more.
Anyway I forgot to add. In the movie Sasuke was the one who told Naruto that Boruto applied an elemental nature to his Rasengan, but they didn't state which element. If you look closely you can see wind around it, which is what the novel said. Funny enough Momoshiki wasn't able to detect it despite being a sensor either, so ... it's pretty ****in' hack.
EDIT; People who haven't seen the movie started to downplay Boruto even more because he lost to Shikidai, but out of everything I mentioned guess what Boruto used against Shikidai? Only shadow clones :lol
Take a moment to consider what this means for Boruto's abilities, and add that with the factor that the movie installs to the movie goer that Boruto has never trained a day in his life, outside of asking for Sasuke to take him as a disciple, and asking Konohamaru to teach him the Rasengan (which he learned in a few days compared to Naruto which took a 31 days).
