That is no one's fault but her own. Should she have been jailed? Absolutely. The mantra that goes around here is if you break the law you go to jail. PERIOD!
There is no, "but because i am a good christian my views superceed the law of the country." It doesn't work that way. Regardless of her religious affiliation, one of her main job duties was not fufilled. Furthermore, upon a court order to fulfill her duties as county clerk she refused and thus was held in contempt-a crime in this country punishible by imprisonment.
If her religious views begin to conflict with your ability to do your job then you retire, you don't deny people a now legal right becuase of those personal biases. That is not what she appointed to do.
And to those who keep saying why not just fire her-It doesn't work that way. She was elected so she doesn't just get fired, a new official (county clerk) must be selected first or she could have resigned or step down.
