Why are there fillers?

When the manga is over, common sense dictates that fillers only come about to give the manga the time to release more chapters so the anime can't catch up and then suddently come to a halt but if the manga has ended, what's stopping Naruto animators to do the rest of the story fully canon untill it ends like it's supposed to? Fillers shouldn't be allowed when the manga has ended, you're supposed to do only canon material at that point.

My best guess is that they're trying to put off canon so that good animators can handle the episodes. But I've been guessing that for a while and it seems like that's never the case.

I was under the assumption that Kishi does not intervene with Studio Pierrot as long as they are sticking with Manga material.

Filler isn't only to let the manga go ahead, it can be to bridge the wait for good animators. In this case I think it's simply for entertainment

I don't buy the part of "waiting for good animators" who gave them permission to take a break and why are bad animators allowed to animate? If it's for the movie then why don't they just say we're going on hiatus because I would prefer that than these dumb fillers that ruin the feel for the story and franchise. This is why Madhouse has such a good reputation, they make it a point to never animate fillers that will interfere with a series even if they have to end an anime prematurely only for it to continue when there is new material.

Majority of animators work in paid slave labour. That being said, the good freelance key frame animators can take breaks when between projects if they want. Doesn't compare to western standards and is still very hard.

Depends on the studio. Most studios are only concerned about having something for the deadline, and hire bad animators if that is necessary to get the episode out on time. These animators usually wok as inbetweeners.

The studio has a contract for a specific number of episodes.

It's likely that more people will watch filler episodes now rather than if they were tacked on after the story's ending is shown.

SP would have been much better off just producing Naruto in seasons versus a year round basis. People would much rather wait four or five months to actually get quality episodes instead of consistently crappy episodes and months of fillers.

The chunin exam filler arc that was here early this year was because the good animators were working on the Boruto movie. The low-average animators worked on the fillers and the little bit of canon we got, while the great animators worked on the Boruto movie.

Now that the movie is finished, the low-average animators are going to animate the dreams and this Jiraiya filler until we go back to canon.

Hiroyuki Yamashita (the one who animated Madara vs alliance, Kakashi vs Obito, Boruto movie) is animating episode(s) so we should atleast get one amazing episode when we come back from Madara's Infinite Filleryomi.

1 to continue milking the series to maximize profits. 2 It's not to give the animators time to do more work. More often than not, these episodes get done a day before or the day of release. 3. There's going to be more filler to cover the 699-700 transition. Heck expect filler to cover the time gaps in 699

Dunno about waiting for good animators tentens filler had some good animation and even the last episode before it did, bee's episode is looking good. Infact I garuntee Naruto and Sasukes battle will be subpar animation.

Maybe waiting it out for a new opening? Maybe they're in the process of writing Naruto GT and want it ready to go when the canon ends so it can air the week after.

To predict alittle I'd say

naruto and Sasukes battle gets drawn out alittle longer maybe lasting 10 episodes
chapter 699 gets drawn out to maybe last 2-3 episodes
(maybe) kakashi novel
The last done in the anime (like BoG in dragon ball super)
the other novels
chapter 700
gaiden (drawn out to last a full season)
then naruto GT
ends the year after from low ratings
