what really bugs me about coby is he keeps praising luffy and calling him his friend yet he tried to capture him and stop him from saving his own brother who's about to be executed is he bipolar or what luffy saved him yet he thinks he's a criminal?? :|

Ace and luffy were both criminal pirates, if a criminal saves someone, that still doesn't take his/her crime away, coby is a marine and thus will naturally try and stop the criminal from saving.............well another criminal.

Coby is Marine, so obvious it is his duty to capture criminal, who is against the Marine, Luffy.
He considers Luffy his brother and that is his person feeling, which he doesn't want to mix with his duties.

Coby is a marine and Luffy's rival. He vowed that he'll become strong and catch Luffy so of course Coby would stand in his way. Coby does have limits to his sense of duty and justice.

That would make him unfitting, coby is a marine, his definition of justice is above anything else, if luffy was one step away from being the pirate king, but copby was the last obstacle , would luffy stop, or would he smash his head with king kong gun? Luffy is obviously going to punch him.

As for your question, I would personally avoid fighting that person, even if it goes against my pride.

Couldn't disagree more. Coby doesn't subscribe to the "Marines are good Pirates are bad" mantra. He knows luffy and his crew are good people but he is also aware that they are technically on opposing sides. He's never gone out of his way to hurt Luffy and during the war he showed that his sense of justice extends to pirates as much as marines. He is a Garp type that wants to believe in doing the right thing but is caught in the struggle between what is right and what is allowed legally. Piracy is illegal, but Luffy is not a bad pirate. Coby tried to stop Luffy because its his duty (and he obviously didn't know any better) but he didn't do it out of hate for Luffy. We saw the same situation play out with Garp and yet you wont question that Garp loved Luffy and Ace.

He saved more Islands than Marines did in manga XD
