Sadly, he was going to die. I'm Sasuke fan, but I'm realistic. He was on the verge of death against Deidara. He wouldn't stand a chance against Pain, even with MS. Actually, Sasuke can only win against him now, when he has the Rinnegan.

Depends on what version of Pain and what version of Sasuke.

Remember that Naruto fought the nerfed version of Pain when he couldn't use gravity abilities while his paths were being destroyed, and still managed to win only thanks to Minato's chakra.

Against this version, MS Sasuke wins high to mid diff IMO, because Amaterasu GG, really. Only Gakido can counter it, and this path is pretty vulnerable to physical attacks as it's been negged even by fodders.

Against full-power Pain, both stand little to no chance.

Amaterasu gets blown away with shinra. if he were to win it would be extreme diff due to his MS having being overused.

Pain could absorb Jutsus and Sasuke could not countered that sines He did not have Sage Chakra like Naruto has. Pain could not handle that.

The only reason Naruto was able to win was because the Kyuubi went out of control and then Minato gave Naruto more Chakra.

Sasuke at that stage would have to overuse his eyes leading to blurred vision, which is the last thing you'd want when facing a Rinnegan user.

His Amaterasu and Susanoo Arrows would be inneffective as both can be absorbed by Rinnegan (as powerful as those attacks are they CAN be absorbed, just as Narutos Rasenshuriken was absorbed by Madara).

But that said... why would people even be surprised that Pain would win??

How can foderuto win against pain didn't he use ninjutsu. And 1 thing Sasuke has which foderuto lacks is high Iq.
Although both lose to pain who has deva path to start but sasuke would outlast naruto against it.

All im hearing is MS this and EMS this, sighs... LOOK! If sasuke's taking naruto's spot then currently sasuke only has 3T. Which means he only has access to chidori alts, genjutsu,kinjutsu,ect.... Only way he wins is if Kishi actually wrote it that way. But since i havent seen any script notes on this im gonna have to say no. lol never gonna happen, as much as i would like for him to beat pein it wont ever happen lol. He could beat the 6 paths of pein all day long with peak MS. I'm not gonna talk about the real pein since genin can kick any cripples a$$

I think sasuke would have won.If you remember fight between jiraiya and pain,you will find that jiraiya also tried to use genjutsu and had almost won.As pain was a student of jiraiya,he was weak against genjutsu and probably didn't know how to counter it.I think with sharinghan sasuke had an advantage over pain do may be he would have won

If this is Sasuke before the 5 Kage arc, then I don't think so. Naruto was acknowledged by Zetsu as being more powerful than Sasuke. Naruto also had prior intel on Pain. Let's say Sasuke figures out Pain is vulnerable to genjutsu, Sasuke isn't nearly as proficent at it as needed to affect someone like Pain, who is controlled by Nagato.

Sasuke wins if Deva is nerfed which is the only path that's actually doing harm to Sasuke. None of the paths bar Deva even have the reflexes or abilities to get by Susanoo arrow and Amaterasu, Susanoo defense. If Sasuke has taka/info and nerfed Deva he wins.

I just read a thread where the conditions were made favourable for Sasuke and it seems Sasuke fan boys have nothing better to do than to make his battles easy as if he's a fodder that needs some form of protection. If Sasuke is indeed as powerful as he is said to be then let him face pain like Naruto did but without all of the factors that made Naruto's fight against pain favourable because when you think about it a lot was sacrificed to give Naruto's info but why does Sasuke get all that info free of charge. I say he'd lose but fan boys always have a favourable condition for their "Lord Sasuke"
