Female writer dominate the Romance genre, so it might not be to the taste of most men. But still there are good stuff out there.

Personally I like fantasy ... among that I found I really enjoyed the Robin Hobb's work.

thats a summary you've got

Do Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Frankenstein's monster, Harry Potter fit that bill?

It's just an example though. You are generalizing. There is a certain set with shallow formula writing to cater to a certain kind of audience and then there are other writers.

This my private collection of books with about 3 female authors.

Lynne McTaggart, Ruth Montgomery and Rhonda Byrne. None of them write novel-like books and I haven't read many books by females (not consciously avoiding them) so I can't really give a legitimate viewpoint on female novelists. Not that it should matter. To each their own, right.

i never generalised, there's always room for exceptions, like always....sadly enough, those "exceptions" happens to be very very rare.

marry balogh
from wiki: She is the author of more than 60 published
novels and over 30 novellas and has met with
critical success. She has received numerous
awards, including a Romantic Times Career
Achievement Award for Regency Short Stories
in 1993 and has appeared on the New York
Times best-seller list.
she's rated high
But she's no George Eliot or Virginia Woolf.

To Kill A Mockingbird is an example of a female author writing a good female protagonist. The Harry Potter series is an example of a female author writing a good male protagonist.

Its stupid to read three books, two of which from the same author, and paint it as if female authors can't write. Male authors experience the same problems when writing female characters. Your problem is that you're trying to read shitty romance novels or something.

You are basing an entire gender's writing ability on 2 writers; 2 writers of the same genre while at that.

One can also say how lacking male authors are if they want to base their arguement on John Green and Nicholas Sparks as the only 2 male authors they read from.
