Is Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works just a remake?

I've started watching it after fate/stay and so far 1st and second episode look a lot alike. Is it worth as different series or it's the same with just better animation?

No, It's an adaptation of the second route (which is called Unlimited Blade Works) of the Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel.

It's better to watch fate/zero first in my opinion though.

Basically mostly same characters different story. Tohsaka rin is main heroine in this route.

There are three routes.
1.Fate- Saber is MC. Story revolves around relationship between Shirou and saber. My favourite route in the Visual Novel. Animated by different studio so heard the adaptation wasn't good. Didn't watch it. (Fate Stay Night)
2.Unlimited BLade Works- Tohsaka rin is MC. Story revolves around relationship between Shirou and Tohsaka. The anime adaptation was decent and enjoyable.
3.Heaven's Feel- Sakura is MC. Story revolves around relationship between Shirou and Sakura. Longest route. Will get a anime movie adaptation.

Nope, it's absolutely not a remake. It's simply an adaptation to the UBW route in FSN's visual novel. There are three main routes (Fate, UBW, HF) to take in the VN and Fate Stay Night happens to be a very poor adaptation of Fate route.

All the routes start the same but then it lead to different events, a different timeline.

In UBW, You will watch the prologue, which shows the POV of Rin. The second episode shows the POV of shirou.
