So Naruto's out of the picture, Bleach is dying a slow, painful death, and One Piece is going to be the last man standing, but eventually out of the picture. So we need a new generation of Big Three. It's gotta be manga which are relatively new, but are heavily gaining in popularity. This means that a manga more than a several years old cannot be part of the new Big Three (sorry Fairy Tail, I love you, but no dice). It could be that the manga is overrated to some folk, but to Big Three, overrated is excluded in a decision.

So I'm gonna post mine, and you are welcome to add to the vote or add your own additions to your Big Three.

1. Boku No Hero Academia (New, massively gaining in popularity, several ten thousand copies sold, retains Shounin formula)

2. Attack on Titan (Touching the age limit, but I think it still holds. Massively popular, several hundred thousand people waiting for Season 3 of anime to come out, has not reached even 80 chapters yet.

3. Akame Ga Kill (5 years old, 11 volumes have sold more than a million copies, just touching 61 manga chapters). I haven't read this manga yet, but I can tell when a large fan base is actively contributing to the traffic rank of manga-hosting websites.

Alrighty! Post your thoughts on Big Three and let me know how mine are.

Boku no Hero is my favorite manga right now

And as you can see Todoroki Shouto is my favorite character, he's awesome and kind of reminds me of Neji and Sasuke to a lesser extent.

I also love Midoriya aka Deku, he a MUCH better maim character than Naruto in my opinion. Especially part 1 Naruto. He doesn't rely on his power to fight and he's extremely smart and analytical.

Midoriya vs Todoroki is the best fight in the series thus far for me. I can't wait for this to get an anime.

Here's the spread-sheet:

If we're looking at pure economics, sure, they can be considered the big three. What I'm looking for is a potential big three by manga who are not competing against already-established manga. I may have to change my #2 because AoT may be too old, seeing as how it already established a foothold from what the spreadsheet has.

Maybe add your own ideas to help out with discussion? Pretty please? :)

I picked up My Hero Academia after a popular photoshop showed Naruto passing the torch to Deku saying "It's up to you now!" and leaving with Goku. "There's gotta be some reason why people are dubbing this the new popular manga, right?"

I don't really read many mangas. The only ones that I'm reading are One Piece, Food wars, Noblesse, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu and Trinity Seven.

lmfao One Piece is gonna end after some of these manga. So can't really exclude it at this point.

Not to mention Akame Ga Kill is absolute trash.

It should be Hunter X Hunter but that manga's got no hope with all the hiatuses.

Uhh. Big 3 is only for Shounen Jump..

It's Boku no Hero, AssClass, ???
They are currently the two new most popular manga.

"There's gotta be some reason why people are dubbing this the new popular manga, right?"
Because it's very popular in Japan, even without an anime. It's definitely one of the most popular new manga in a long time.

I don't like many of the new manga. They're stale to me. I kind of like Nanatsu no Taizai, it's just a casual read. Same with One Piece. All these other manga are hardly shonen and the spectrum for appeal towards manga has gotten too broad for there to be a big three of shonen manga.

That just defeats the purpose of calling it the big three then. Fine, I guess Boku no Hero could potentially become big if it had an anime but I won't say big 3. Even if it does reach top 3 after getting it's anime, it will die out the next year. Food wars has the best potential in terms of WSJ. (assuming that J.C staff releases another season relatively quick after this one is done)

Honestly, if Togashi had assistants and produced chapters weekly with very little hiatuses then HxH would be top 5 easy. The 2013 top selling manga list makes me lol till this very day. He was on hiatus for a majority of the year but still reached top 10.

Attack on Titan, One Piece, and idk I don't read or watch many recent mangas(hate waiting for episodes/chaoters)

I know a shit ton of people who don't watch anime who have seen attack on titan, and with it being on netflix, it's becoming very popular, and OP is OP.
