when boruto received the device from the Katasuke, he didn't give boruto anything with it, he later added the shadow clones for shikidai's battle, and then the two elemental scrolls he used in the second match.

but I don't view it as canon either ... it would be cool for this to be confirmed in the movie as well, if Boruto isn't shown using someone else's elemental scrolls, then that would be badass!

I view these as semi-canon/secondary canon since they are licensed/official, but not written by Kishi.

Anyway, if he could seal the jutsu into the device, how come he couldn't just use them? And aren't three natures a bit too much?
