I know thats my point, all people no matter how strong got attacked (except for shanks tho that situation was different) but when dragon appeared no one did anything, not even smoker..

You can't label Smoker as an ordinary marine soldier, his characteristic doesn't feature fear or hesitation when he encounter an enemy. With his DF or not, he would put on a decent fight at the very least.
