Went on FB cause I was bored, and one of my "friends" on there shared a post from this one lady whose name I won't mention. It was:

In the comments section of that picture, a guy asked, "Why only for African American's?" Which in turn, the lady who posted the picture said something along the lines of, "Because I'm talking about us, I'm not worried about Billy Bob, Sera Jay, etc etc" - essentially stereotypical names from other races. Thoughts?

Is it? Lol I didn't know. And so it's only affecting African American's, not anyone else?

I don't think it's just affecting African Americans, considering there are rarely school's of
just 1 race, even if it only has a handful of another race.
And honestly, I think it'd be great for any race/person to actually listen to what was stated :d

She's right. Black people need to stop worrying about others. Worry about their own community.

It's funny how you go in a poor black neighborhood. Everybody is saying they don't have money. But they have all these expensive materials. Jordans/I phones and etc.

People have their priorities in the wrong place. Not to mention a lot of kids come out of a broken household and they have no positive role models instead of rappers and basketball players.

Basketball players seem like good role models, however rappers are generally terrible role models.
And since when aren't black people worrying about their own community? I'm pretty sure that that's all they're doing.

:d From what I've seen all basketball players inspire anyone to do is try to make it at the top in sports,
devoting a lot of time into it, knowingly knowing there will only be few at this "top" chosen from many
cities/towns.

Basically meaning, wasting a lot of time, to most likely not go anywhere with it,
I mean, unless you enjoy it a lot, but even then it's taking a lot of time out of other
productive things :33

xd Considering the time wasted on NB, I couldn't
say more than that.

If a white person made this and had said "Dequan and Tyrone," all hell would break loose.

Preaaaaach.
However I disagree with basketball stars and rappers not being positive role models.

Not all rappers are bad role models. For example: Logic

Interesting. So it is acceptable that African American can have an 'us' without it being considered racism. But when whites have an 'us' it is racism.

This might be the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

The entertainment industry can be practically free. Movies, books, music and pretty much every other form of media is available online for free, whether legal or not. So going to a concert is a choice that the attendee makes. Presumably, they can afford it, they like the artist, and are willing to pay for the experience of seeing them live. It's unfair to blame this on the entertainment industry. If you have internet access, you can get all kinds of media for free, so who cares if performers make money during concerts? That's their job. They get on stage, perform their heart out, and profit from it.

And it's so weird that this is targeted toward African Americans, as if white people are free from the entertainment industry. We can't escape media, it's an integral part of our culture. Whites and blacks alike buy into it.

Bottom line, it's not really any of your business how someones else spends their money. If they want to treat themselves to a concert rather than donating to a local charity, you can't do a damned thing about it except ***** or work harder to correct their "mistake." :lol

Spending your time playing basketball is better than dealing or doing whatever else that could be bad, and devoting yourself to a sport gives you more than just skills and experience, it also teaches you things like discipline.
