We've got too much destructive tech for titans, and would build them quickly in this
age. It'd be much harder to keep track of a giant virus, that walks.

5 billion people can easily out live around 1,000 titans, many sacrifices will be
available to take them out, and considering a land where people recently discovered
the air balloon is capable of engaging with them, I don't see why we couldn't. We're billions
compared to their thousands.

Who knows when the Zombie's plague would reawaken from contaminated stuff.

The "virus" will be much easier to deal with than Titans because destruction doesn't matter. There's only one weak spot, and a narrow amount of usable weaponry. And that useable weaponry doesn't deal the right kind of damage to kill even one Titan. And we certainly can't use chemical warfare or nuclear warheads because they'd end up wiping out more innocents than Titans.
