The world desired Indra's way after Indra and Ashura passed away. If Hago and Ashura was truly right, then, there shouldn't have been any wars after their fight since Indra walked a lone path and died in battle against his brother.

What happened after Hashi pass away? 3 great ninja wars! Nobody wasn't trying to use Ashura's method of peace. So indirectly, Ashura used Indra's way and blamed him at the same time for it.

Indra is the best Otsutsuki IMO. He may not be the strongest like Kaguya and Hagoromo, but he is extremely powerful, enough to be a standout even among the Otsutsukis. Not to mention that he is the parent of the most powerful clan. He has the best design. Considering him to be a powerful genius, he must have the attitude and badassery to match. His powers (Uchiha powers) are the coolest powers one can imagine. And he was able to match Ashura one on one, whose daddy entrusted him with powers to fight Indra. Plus, he's the inventor of ninjutsu which he used to match up to Ashura, so that's an unparalleled accomplishment.
