Mind transfer Jutsu only controls the targets movements and it also drains alot of chakra, while Shisuis Genjutsu can change the experience and behavior of a person so that they have a complete change of heart.

Yamanaka techs were barely effective against Obito; KA was 100% effective when used by Itachi, on himself.

And Itachi was a genjutsu master... And as an Edo, he is automatically rigged to counter any enemy moves. But since the technique was successfully executed onto himself, it means he could not counter it.

Kotoamatsukami controls the targets decisions and experiences without letting the target realise it.
