I agree, in retrospect it doesn't make much sense now.

Obito clearly stated that the Sage's body was as strong as his eyes, to me it meant Sasuke would awaken the Rinnegan while Naruto woudl've had a special body. I was expecting Naruti to host the bodies of all 9 bijuu instead of being given their chakra.

Yeah, no. BSM Naruto was getting some aid from Yin Kurama along with the fact that Natural Energy substantially boosts one's reserves, so BSM Naruto was hardly depleted.

Lol Sasuke's statement wasn't even about strength it was about how much chakra Naruto could control and hand out with ease. Naruto was about to go full avatar mode and Sasuke was heavily confident he could match and keep up. What chakra boost did EMS Sasuke have when he used PS to cover kurama's chakra? Answer is none.
