He is supposed to be the one to show Naruto's element, tell Kage Bushin secret, and give him some jutsu and maybe better chakra control. It's a wonder the toads did a better job.

Jiraiya didn't teach him bad, but yeah, the toads did a better job.

Bruh, it was Jiraiya who taught him the Rasengan that Naruto developed into bigger ones. I think he did the best job in training Naruto.

If it wasn't for Jiraiya, Naruto would've never had association with the The Toads' and in turn SM.

But more so Jiraiya I believe is a huge contributing factor to Naruto's ideology.

He taught Naruto the concept of Spatial Manipulation which aided in improving his Chakra Control and also became a basis for some very deadly Ninjutsu, not to mention he managed to teach Naruto the Summoning Jutsu as well as some control over Kurama which aided in improving his Stamina as needed when he confronted Kakuzu and Deidara. He also taught him the basics of Genjutsu and how to counter it, so he wouldn't be completely vulnerable to it.

I would say he was taught fairly well though most of the skills he did learn came handy much later as most of the rookies Post-Time Skip seemed at around his level IMO.

I wish he would have worked on his taijutsu a little more.....naruto in that stage was always so unruly and had poor technique

Naruto was probably still the same level after he defeated Sasuke at VOTE 1

Jiraiya knew he was the main character, so he didn't have to teach him anything. He knew that plot would consume the villains, and he could die peacefully knowing this.

Rasengan, Odama Rasengan, Summoning Jutsu, Walking on water, Chakra Control, over the two years he tried his best to teach him how to control nine tails power, and probably more. This is just off the top of my head. The toads only taught Naruto Sage mode, right?

most of what naruto learned during that trip he could have learned either on his own or in konoha

i feel like the whole clone transfer knowledge thing wasn't a concept at all until kishi realized that his idea of "have naruto grow gradually through the manga" was not gonna work unless he wanted to pull a fairy tail so he decided to create that aspect of the clones

Naruto could not even break finger genjustu that training didn't mean much and he failed at training naruto to control Kurama. The only thing he was successful in training naruto was the rasengan.

Who knows what they were doing because the didn't spend much time training.
