If anyone remembers the ending of Yu Yu hakisho then you know it was some real deal stuff. Basically (Slight Spoiler Alert from here on out) the main character yuske urameshi (or something like that) was one of the strongest fighters of the demon world, he ended up in a tournament with the other strong fighters and lost, due mainly to insufficient fighting capability compared to the other topped ranks. But the manga/anime still ended. Just like that he lost, he not strong enough, nuff said. He gets to fight again in xxx years time. Anyone think that OP has a chance to end in a similar fashion? With Luffy just not being strong enough to be PK, its been noted plenty of times that there are a few characters that could have competed on almost equal footing with the PK (WB, Garp, possibly shiki). Considering the time that OP takes to develop and such and usually not going the DBZ/Naruto route of handning out relatively random power ups (SSj3 Goku, SSJ2 Gohan, EOS Sasuke and Naruto and DMS Kakashi) anyone think ending like Yu Yu hakisho is possible?

Absolutely not, its not even a accurate comparison.
Yusuke only wanted the tournament so that he could prevent a war, which is what happened, so despite not winning he still got what he wanted.
Luffy's goal is to be Pirate King, so he be Pirate King in the end.

Wait what? How was SSJ3 Goku and SSJ2 Gohan, "random power-UPS"? And Luffy will never be ready for Kaidou, sorry, any current yonko spanks luffy neg diff. Unless luffy has some mega devil fruit power-up 
Understood, but Naruto is Naruto and OP is OP. I could say OP ending without Hancock as Luffys wife is like Naruto ending without Hinata as Naruto's wife. Its apples to oranges. Both both are fruit, but thats the only real similarity.

Nah, Yusuke never had a real personal goal for himself, so him losing in the tournament wouldn't be the same as Luffy not becoming PK. I doubt Oda would build it up for so long and not have him reach his goal in the end.

Of course each series is its own thing but they will have many overlapping similarities especially in shonen. In this case these goals are what drive these characters in their own stories. Also some fruits come in their own shapes, sizes, color, etc. so some could have more similarities between them then just being a fruit.

That would be the biggest troll in manga history.. Luffy who goes around saying "im going to become pirate king" to everyone he meets, and even has people in the story who believe in him.. For oda to end it before/without him achieving his dream is even beyond the levels of a kudo+hiro mashima troll.
I'm a huge fan of Togashi, he's my second fav. mangaka of all time but I'll tell you how YYH even got it's rushed ending. Simply put, Yu Yu Hakusho ended because of Togashi's selfishness, he even openly admitted to it in an interview (he says so at the bottom of the interview):

We can still get another sort of timeskip or Oda could take advantage of Luffy mastering gear 4th (assuming there's more than one form) + DF awakening to place him evenly with other top tiers. Oda doesn't have to randomly give powerups either, that's ridiculous. I'm also certain that once Oda expands on Haki once more, we'll see a noticeable boost in not just Luffy's strength but everyone else. He still never mentioned how CoC works in combat either so that's something to consider.

Never saw that before but I always knew Togashi just ended Hakusho that way just cause he doesn't give a shit. This is the same guy who often draws dots for characters and labels them so people dont get confused. Can't blame him though the dude has a life to live, worrying about others gets tiring. Togashi probably gives the least shits from any mangaka I know and he still manages to sell like crazy cause its still quality stuff.

I wouldn't say that he gives the least shit. He has back issues and went through back surgery/treatment recently. For Togashi, he has the biggest challenge to go through than any other mainstream mangaka because he does all the drawings himself. He doesn't have assistants. I just think he's pretty stubborn but whatever he said that drawing the manga himself helps with his stress.
Yeah, those chapters were redone in the official volume releases. Togashi taking hiatuses to play DQ is just a meme/joke so I don't take it seriously at all.

Actually i knew that either yu yu or inuyasha had ended earlier / in the manner they ended cuz the aurthor was like **** it towards the end. But yu yu still ended with a some what viable ending, so did inuyasha although they are extremely rushed. I doubt OP would end the same way, but i wanted to know how to community felt about that idea.
