why are certain Dragon Ball fans so blinded by Nostalgia?? I grew up loving dragon ball i truly do, but as i grew older i realized how much the plot sucked after the saiyan saga. i mean other than Vegeta and Piccolo, no character had any development..the series was just about power levels and no sense of danger at all..die..you get wished back and you still see the dead characters in the other world..the series really is bad and it's the nostalgia that keeps people hooked

Just rustled you in another thread.

There's a big difference from dragonball manga to the YA adaptation for the anime. People talk about plot, character development and all that BS. I find the original dragonball manga pre time skip to be awsome and full of that.

You don't have to like it. But don't go around critiquing what you haven't fully understood if all you do is watch a couple of TA episodes of DBZ

P.s. Yamcha, Goku, Tien etc all went through character development.

Kids watch DBZ and be like oh this is shit. Read the manga and be critical if you want

I know I 90s kid when I see one. XD
These kids have never watched Dragonball never mind read the manga bless them
I did, but I still didn't like it beyond certain events. Sometimes a story just doesn't grab you, and other times it's the most amazing thing you've ever read/watched.

Fair enough. No manga is 100% great all the time. I can relate to what you say about most things I read. Like Naruto for example after pein arc

I completely agree with you on that! I forced myself to see it through to the end, but my interest faded fast after that arc, and the ending itself reminded me of how Digimon 2 ended. I was very disappointed.

DBZ kind of does have a plot, it's just very loose.

Everything is linked from Saga to Saga (besides the time-skip imo).

But the links are very small, like imagine a barely visible thread.

The looseness works for the show though because it's just revolved around fighting a bunch of villains and not every villians was connected like Majin Buu and the Demon King, Frieza and Cooler, etc.

DBZ is severely overrated, the plot is almost nonexistent and powerlevels dictate everything.

I only keep up because of nostalgia & the amount of tim invested into it.

It was the best. Sometimes I think they should just stop after they've reached the highest point in a series. I'm still conflicted about DBGT.
True. Nothing worse than seeing your fav manga reduced to fan service or $$$ service which is what seems to happen. Like Gaiden for example, wholly uncessesary drama for the sake of $. The bad guys didn't even matter in the end.

GT was stuff of nightmares for me. It killed everything decent about the original work. Pan was awful to watch, Trunks was weird and Vegeta being trolled. But had one of the best endings.

I think DBZ should have ended with Gotenks beating Buu XD
