Masashi made Sasuke lose his sword right before the battle so he wouldn't kill him in a few panels.

If it was said that they were chuunin, then i don't think Sasuke would have beat any 1 of them 1 on 1. He thought quickly and exploited their weakness which was that chain, i am not trying to underestimate Sasuke in any way. On the other hand, it was maybe just written in for Sasuke to shine, sort of like how Luffy beat Crocodile early on in 1 Piece when logically, he shouldn't have even been around his level. If i had to rank them, they are certainly not near any of the Konoha 11 chuunin and probably became Chuunin through their stealth.
