I never got why you always think he isn't that type of a person. o-oLuffy isn't the type of person to have a right hand man.

Luffy is too single-minded to rank his friends. They're his family, that's as deep/complicated as he'll go.I never got why you always think he isn't that type of a person. o-o
Nope but oda is the type to give him one.Luffy isn't the type of person to have a right hand man.
Do you understand How flawed this is? Luffy is appointing or getting any first mates. That would be very out of character.Nope but oda is the type to give him one.
Right so instead oda has hinted at zoro postion in the scans of this thread, in bartos and urouge's words, and in zoro being the first to join and second strongest member of the crew. It will never be said by luffy, i get that, but zoro is in all but name.Do you understand How flawed this is? Luffy is appointing or getting any first mates. That would be very out of character.
None of those qualify him to be first mate. Besides, the closest Luffy came to appointing a FM was with Usopp, so keep the pipe dreaming up. I have faith Oda will keep Luffy in character before Zoro is first mate.Right so instead oda has hinted at zoro postion in the scans of this thread, in bartos and urouge's words, and in zoro being the first to join and second strongest member of the crew. Thinking zoro is the vice captain is not right and wrong it's only right.Its more complex than that. Those who Zoro is the Vice captain are both right and wrong. Same goes for the other way around.
By default or overall, Zoro is the vice captain and he displayed VC qualities in Water 7 and Punk Hazard, However, Nami and Sanji displayed VC qualities as well. When Luffy isn't around(someone when he IS around), who is the one giving orders and deciding the course of action? Nami.
Every SH has multiple roles in the crew. Each make up for what the other cant do which is why the SHs are such a great cohesive unit and team.
I see your point ! but even then , i doubt about gap between Zoro and sanji's Power !!I think he has trust in Zoro's abilities more than others.
Especially since the Mihawk incident at the start of the series. Remember luffy was laughing at Enel's people when they told him they captured Zoro.
But right hand man has nothing to do with a rank. Right hand man is simply the guy he looks to the most often and is under him and follows him with great devotion.Luffy is too single-minded to rank his friends. They're his family, that's as deep/complicated as he'll go.
Luffy and Zoro leave stuff to Nami and others, because they do nothing but fight. While everyone else in their crew has a job or a role to do out of fighting. .Its more complex than that. Those who Zoro is the Vice captain are both right and wrong. Same goes for the other way around.

I find it interesting to discuss and see if people change their minds or not.Why do people make a big deal out of this lol?
Well Daz was stronger than Bon Clay tho.I see your point ! but even then , i doubt about gap between Zoro and sanji's Power !!
their powers are really different so it's difficult to compare them ! People should considered that although Zoro usually fights with the second rank villain and sanji with the third one , that doesn't mean sanji's opponent was weaker ! Remember Enies lobby, Zoro fought with Kaku and sanji with Jabra, but Jabra was the only member of CP9 that could use tekkai WHILE moving ! In Alabasta Sanji fought Bon clay which no one can say is weaker than Daz Bones .
I believe Zoro is better in tanking damage , i can not ignore that, but sanji is more intelligent. He comes up with really good plans.
Its not a big deal but any chance I get to talk about OP from a literary standpoint instead of a battle junky, I'll take it.Why do people make a big deal out of this lol?
That is pretty much all I'm saying. Zoro is Luffy right hand and the VC by default. He has shown VC qualities like keeping everyone in line in Water 7 but he is very similar to Luffy, both in dream and being the muscle of the group. Zoro also lacks the necessary leadership qualities of a VC but he still has some important qualities like respect. Water 7 tackled Luffy being somewhat of a poor leader and how he knack for solving all his problems with brute force caused Usopp to defect. Luffy was a poor leader and Usopp didn't respect Luffy's position as captain.But right hand man has nothing to do with a rank. Right hand man is simply the guy he looks to the most often and is under him and follows him with great devotion.
Zoro and Luffy has shown a bigger link as far as trust in each other's abilities goes than any other strawhat.
Shanks/Roger's crews were/are also their families.. doesn't mean they don't have a right hand man. Rayleigh was the first mate aka the Dark King. And we know very well Roger was like Luffy, and Rayleigh was also pretty much like Zoro, a fighter.. as he only became a coating engineer later on.
The way i look at is this:
Luffy and Zoro are the only ones who don't have another role besides fighting.
Sanji = cooking
Choper= doctor
Franky = ship
Ussop = weapons
Robin = the "information" person
Nami = the "treasury and the navigator"
Brook = Musician
While the other 2 do nothing but fighting , or w.e they are told to do by the others. Luffy is ready to kick people out if they got a problem with his (Main) decisions like the Ussop thing. Zoro also only steps in when its regarding the crew.
^^^ Both are pretty much useless other than that.
There are no official "ranks" in the crew. But are you going to deny Nami is the navigator of the crew (A rank)? Luffy is the captain (a rank) of the crew? <<< Zoro made it very firm, that they aren't playing a family game or w.e.. they are pirates and Luffy is their head, even though he doesn't act like it. Oda himself put that in.
Luffy and Zoro leave stuff to Nami and others, because they do nothing but fight. While everyone else in their crew has a job or a role to do out of fighting. .
Yet when it came down to it, in regards to making the decision regarding the ship.. you don't go against luffy, and oda made sure to put in what Zoro said regarding everyone showing respect to luffy as the captain.
^^^^^ Notice Zoro's expression when Ussopp started talking against luffy, he was getting mad or irritated. And then during the fight, he was just standing there and observing and then told Luffy that a captain needs to be decisive.
Nami gives 99% more orders than luffy, yet hes the captain.
I find it interesting to discuss and see if people change their minds or not.
Butttt i just made the thread to see if people had noticed it or not XD
Well Daz was stronger than Bon Clay tho.
Just tanking damage? ehh, I think Zoro is pretty much above Sanji as far as physicality goes. Sanji has his kicks and so on i know. But look at freaking Zoro's built man. And his speed in swordsmanship is crazy.
Sanji yea to me was always that "Smart guy" thats in a trio. You know what i mean? I mean most of the arcs hes usually the one who does something "Smart" or makes some plan.
Water 7 never questioned Luffy's skills as a leader though. I would say it tested his skills as a leader, and he passed according to Zoro. Ussop leaving on ussop being an idiot and pretending he was above the captain or somethin and not understanding the situation. Luffy wasn't forcing it on Ussop. Luffy got aggressive when ussop started insulting Luffy. And then it was a test whether he would become an emotional wreck over a friend leaving or is he serious about being a captain. And according to Zoro he passed.Its not a big deal but any chance I get to talk about OP from a literary standpoint instead of a battle junky, I'll take it.

It was Zoro, who liked I said is very similar to Luffy, gave the necessary advice and lesson to Luffy, Usopp and the other SHs about respect, being a very serious and strict character n' all.
Water 7 was to showcase Luffy as a bit of a poor leader. Luffy has always solved his problems with his fists and handled the agreement with Usopp very poorly. He didn't understand WHY Usopp was so upset and just told him that he is a captain and should be quiet.
