Why are there people thinking the novels are canon?

Viz Media is bringing a host of Naruto goodies to North America and in English starting later this year! The two big ones many fans have been curious about are the Uzumaki Naruto illustration book, which was the 114-page art book with visual creations by Naruto series creator, Masashi Kishimoto.

The second is the series of Naruto epilogue books, which are titled Naruto Hidan (Naruto Secret) in Japan. In case you may not remember, the Naruto Secret series of books are official stories that take place after Naruto manga chapter 699, but before Naruto manga chapter 700. These are books, not manga, that have pages upon pages of text only. Similar to the Harry Potter series of books, but not as long. Generally each book in the Naruto Secret series is about 200-300 pages.
Official is not the same thing as canon. That just means it has the rights to the licensee. GT is official but not canon, or do you think GT is canon too?

Also just because it was published in WSJ doesn't make it canon. This was also in WSJ but isn't canon.

True, but they hardly contradict the manga. Yeah, the Kakashi novel talked about the events of Blood Prison, but that doesn't mean it's not canon.

It kinda does, The events of Blood Prison change the entire story of the Sage and Kaguya.

The novles also give Gaara Magnet release.
Creates a girl with the Sharingan.
Creates more Ice release users.
Creates Anbu with Tailed Beast abilities.
Say's that Guy can fight, while being in a wheelchair.
Creates an entire new village.

Ect,Ect.

The story of Hagoromo's was a legend anyway that more than a few people didn't believe, so I don't see the problem honestly.

The novles also give Gaara Magnet release.
Gaara has Shukaku's power, which is Magnet Release.

Creates a girl with the Sharingan.
What's wrong with creating new characters?

Creates more Ice release users.
Was it ever stated that the Yuki Clan was extinct?

Creates Anbu with Tailed Beast abilities.
Which only happened because Naruto's Chakra was collected by them after his fight with Sasuke.

Say's that Guy can fight, while being in a wheelchair.
Guy could only stand up for a limited time. Even then he was always in extreme pain while doing so.

Creates an entire new village.
The Naruto world is pretty big, which means that it could have easily been a village that wasn't worth mentioning until now.

I'm not going to act like I didn't read my fair share of contradictions, but some of them had explanations or are very minor in my opinion.

The amount of insane things in Blood Prison alone makes it contradict with the entire Naruto story. Jutsu that seals chakra, Demons older than the Biju.
And a giant, indestructible magic box that grants wishes from before the Sages.

Gaara never had Shukaku powers, it was his mothers chakra that let him control sand, and Sand alone. That's different from Magnet release.

When they have a unique kkg for no reason it matters.

Yes, it was.

Chakra has never worked like that in the manga. You can't absorb chakra from a location, that would be senjutsu.

It's just a cop out to have Gai in their product.

The village pops up from no-where and kidnaps Anbu members.
