OP, I agree Naruto could have used a kunai or one of his small Rasengans to counter that sword.

Sasuke dropped it in the lava. XD

Even without him streaming lightning he would win in a kenjutsu fight vs a kunai.

It is a manga fact Base Naruto without Ridoku chakra can easily deal with swords from real swordsmen, who were trained by Bee, who stomped Sasuke I'm swordsmanship.

Sasuke could easily counter Naruto's physical attacks with a blade and could have stabbed him when he had him down to the point that he could get in close to steal some of his 9-tails chakra.
