Why are there people thinking the novels are canon?

Naruto was able to use Kage bushin no jutsu despite him learning it after he retrieved the forbidden scroll.

oh that? Man Kishi F-ed up on all the childhood flashback scenes! The more he tried to bring the flashback out, you can easily tell that Naruto wasn't THAT alone or being hated hard! He be contradicting the whole Naruto's theme when he show flashback about Naruto.

Anything other then that? Sounds like he forgot or he meant for it to be the regular clone jutsu ( non solid not real clones ) or because he had no idea what else naruto could use.

They bring up Blood prison, that alone is more than enough. Also Sakura runs an orphanage or something in one. Kakashi makes a new jutsu and fights against someone with Ice-release. There's a girl with the Sharingan that's forced to marry Gaara or something. They also have people with Tailed Beast powers in ANBU.

Canon only means it aligns with the actual story. The Last is canon in the sense that it follows Kishis manga but the skills they show in that movie can't be taken as canon, like them magically breathing in space, when they can't even breathe in water on earth.

In case you may not remember, the Naruto Secret series of books are official stories that take place after Naruto manga chapter 699, but before Naruto manga chapter 700. These are books, not manga, that have pages upon pages of text only. Similar to the Harry Potter series of books, but not as long. Generally each book in the Naruto Secret series is about 200-300 pages.
