Countering Gai advantages...​

Thinking Taijutsu only means CQC (close quarters combat) is a terrible mistake, since Gai has showed the abilitie to perform long range techniques, that are in fact derivates of Taijutsu, but do not resemble the classic “physicall attacks” at all. Hirudora and Akasukaju are the perfect exaplmes of it, since they’re “physycall” attacks, but they seem more like long range attacks, resembling some ninjutsu techniques we’ve seen. Since Itachi has techniques that would allow him to keep his distance from Gai, this doesn’t mean Gai can’t attack, since as already mentioned, he can fight med-long ranged battles too.
On this matchup, Gai would be taking advantage on his superior speed, striking speed and strength. Itachi having sharingan won’t be such a big factor on this fight, as I will explain later.
Gai’s superior stamina and the fact that full knowledge is displayed here are the main factors that would give Gai the victory. Since he would dodge any attack Itachi has and keep him under constant pressure with his superior CQC skills, and when Itachi pulls out his MS is when the real battle begins. Gai’s superior stamina would allow him to keep fighting until Itachi’s chakra starts to fall due to his low chakra reserves and the huge chakra loss it means to use MS techniques. As soon as Itachi’s v4 susano downgrades to any weaker version, Hirudora destroys it, thus ending the match.

Asa Kujaku has already been countered plus a Rib-cage Susanoo or a skeleton form Susanoo alone would suffice in defending against that. Gai trying to make this a distance battle isn't going to help him here at when he's a much better cqc fighter plus with distance it would give Itachi a chance to use his genjutsu crows.(

Ending the Misconception rubbish...​

Before jumping to counter your post, I just want to clear a misconception about Gai’s chakra loss when using the 7th gate. As we saw against Kisame, after using Hirudora one time, his body suffered a punishment for it, showing us that the 7th gate was just a last resource for him, since his body could barely handle it. But when we reached the war arc, this thing changed, since when he faced JJ Madara, he opened the 7th gate and used Hirudora, and after that he didn’t seem to be exhausted at all (he just showed signs of being injured by madara), and after that he even opened the 8th gate. Meaning that his stamina grew to the point that he can use the gates more than before. Here are the manga scans.

Ending the cqc argument...​

In CQC, Itachi gets totally smacked.
1- You said he kept up with KM Naruto, okay, first of all, Naruto there was keeping a conversation with him, there’s was no indication of him fighting serious, not saying he was just joking around, but it doesn’t seem naruto was really “fighting” Itachi there. Any ways, probably, he was indeed fighting all out (cqc), but still, not such an impressive feat, since Naruto’s sunshin is really fast but his striking speed and hand speed are not that impressive (just taijutsu, without FRS and rasengan variants of course). And right here, is where I proof Gai’s superiority. Lets say Itachi kept up with KM Naruto in CQC…well I must say that by manga facts, KM naruto, not even with the help of clones could keep up with Obito, here I’ll show you how Obito was handling Naruto hands down, and would have warped him away to the pocket dimension if naruto didn’t get help everytime. From this we can assume Obito >> KM Naruto in CQC (since naruto’s striking speed and Taijutsu prowess are not impressive at all in pure taijutsu).

2- About Gai having to worry about not looking at Itachi’s eyes and fingers, this is not a main problem, on part 1 he stated he has a method to fight the sharingan, which is to not make eye contact. Fighting Kakashi, he probably mastered completely this technique and probably was using it against Obito too. Obito is a sharingan and rinnengan user, its obvious that Gai avoided eye contact if he had already learned to fight that way, and still, his Taijutsu prowess did not decrease at all, meaning Gai can fight doujutsu users avoiding genjutsu perfectly without losing effectiveness. In this case, with full knowledge, Gai knows that he musn’t look at Itachi’s eyes nor his finger, while the latter is almost irrelevant, since Itachi using finger genjutsu in the heat of a CQC battle is almost imposible.
So, Gai can fight Itachi avoiding his eyes just like he did with Obito (who is superior to itachi in CQC). Even in base and fighting a dojutsu user (using his method) Gai still showed better feats than Itachi’s.

One thing he didn't have to worry about is finger genjutsu which means he won't even be able to look at Itachi's face or hands which im waiting to see how Gai will still over come Itachi while not look at his face and his hands especially without gates. Kakashi nor Obito aren't anywhere near as proficient with Genjutsu as Itachi. How come? Finger genjutsu is simply putting chakra in the finger.​

3- About kisame “easely” tracking his movements… That’s what you call “easely tracking”?, Kisame got his face wrecked in that scan. Also, Gai’s speed and CQC grew a lot during the war arc, so showing old scans is irrelevant, since after that Gai’s powers grew to the point that he kept up with Obito in base. New scans > Old scans, we should take the last feat from each character. Also if he opens gates this shouldn’t even be argued.
First, to make this point clear, I must say that I think Gai can dodge amaterasu if the required circumstances are given. In the case he doesn’t dodge it, he has another resource, which I’ll add later. Yes he kept up with Obito with the help of KM Naruto and clones and Kakashi. Itachi can easily counter the 6th gates speed with Susanoo. If Kisame someone with regular eyes was able to see his movements a 3tomoe sharingan and Ms would easily be able to due to so as well. 1- First of all, we must say that, Ay did not only dodge Amaterasu from a really short distance, he even counter-atacked after having dodged it, which means Ay’s speed is not > Amaterasu’s, it is >>>> Amaterasu’s.

That being said, I’ll procede to say that, Gai is not looking for a counter attack like the raikage did here, his main goal would be just to merely dodge it to be able to survive, so he doesn’t need to be as fast and reflexive as Ay, he just needs to be the necessary to dodge it. As soon as he sees amaterasu coming (will address how later), he would just need to use 5th or 6th gate to dodge it, now, he won’t need to open them because it would be probably the gates he would be already using when Itachi resources to amaterasu.
Why isn’t the seventh gate needed? Because all gai needs here is to at least barely dodge amaterasu, and he doesn’t need godly speed to accomplish that. When using 6th gate (or 5th, is really impossible to know which one he was using here) he was even fast enough to intercept JJ Madara’s dujo damas (which at the same time, ar too fast for freaging haxxed Kakashi’s super fast kamui, as double kamui was needed)

Itachi already showed he can use Amaterasu multiple times and still use Susanoo if needed. Scans 2,3 and 4 addressed that claim. Gai will have to constantly use gates so he'll run out of stamina and energy way faster than Itachi who still managed to out-last Hebi Sasuke who had multiple long dragged out battles. Urm nope. If v2 Ei speed was truly that much superior to Amaterasu he wouldn't have built up his chakra for a huge speed-burst.(

How? Well, here we see Nagato doing it with deva path’s shinra tensei, which makes a power wave that pushes everything back using the user as an epicenter

There we see the result of Gai opening the 7th gate, it creates a pushing wave that even made madara cover himself from such a big distance between him and Gai. If Amaterasu catches Gai, he can expel the flames using the force that gets out of his body when he uses the 7th gate. It is a pretty huge wave, so it should be capable of blowing Amaterasu away.

Nagato expelled Amaterasu but he still was heavily damaged.(

That is nothing like Shinra Tensei that is simply overwhelming powers causing wind/air to be pushed back at alarming rates which in a sense would do nothing but increase the Amaterasu on him. ST is pushing gravity from around the user which is far more effective to remove Amaterasu than trying to use huge gust of winds which would only spread it.​

To address the final point of your post, I must say that I agree that Gai’s hirudora does not break Itachi’s v4 susano, but on this matchup, as I already mentioned, full knowledge is crucial. Gai knows Itachi’s stamina is not very high, even in the databook he has a 2,5 (source:

This being said, Gai would have knowledge on Itachi’s susano, and he would know he can’t keep v4 for too much , and that’s because Sasuke with an MS could barely keep it activated, while he really started using it when he gained EMS. This is because v4 susano is more suited for EMS users, since MS users get drained to fast and can’t keep it activated too long.

There we see MS Sasuke (who has more stamina than itachi) trying to activate v4 susano and failing to do so. I know Sasuke was worn out because of his fight with danzo, but don’t forget he got a chakra refill from Karin by that time

So, itachi can’t keep v4 for too long and Gai knows it. Moving on

Gai will run out of stamina far faster than Itachi and here's why. He'll have to spam the gates just to evade Amaterasu and try to even land good hits on Itachi. Gai hasn't shown to keep no gate up for long except 8th gate and i've explained why he can keep the 8th Gates up the longest in scan 9. Gai using the gates in rapid sessions will only result in a very quick exhaust. If he doesn't use the Gates he'll be took-in out. Both of those scans were blind Uchiha's that had fought an entire battle so that's not helping your case at all. Also v4 will only be used when 7th gate is used.​

2- Gai being inside kurama’s chakra did not increase his powers, and this has already been proved (same for kakashi). Kurama gave kakashi a chakra boost when he touched his hand, being inside the avatar does not increase the chakra power, why? Here’s proof, Kurama says “get me that Gai guy here, I’ll restore him later”... that’s the key word, later, he asked bee to throw Gai inside the avatar so he’d be save, but the chakra resoring thing would be done after.

Also, if Itachi engages CQC he gets a short ranged Hirudora in the face

2- Genjutsu is countered by his not-eye contact method, which is already proved very effective since he did not lose any taijutsu effectiveness using it against Obito. Finger genjutsu is also avoided by the fact that Gai has full knowledge, and also, its highly unlikely that Itacih can perform something like that on the heat of a CQC battle against someone of Gai’s caliber.

). Once he does this V4 susanoo comes out. Once again neither Obito or Kakashi are as good as Itachi when it comes to genjutsu. Even if he couldn't Itachi could simply use Amaterasu since Gai won't be paying attention to his face.​

3- Amaterasu is either dodged or expelled from his body as I already explained. Gai would already have 5th or 6th gate opened to engage itachi and he would be very cautious to see the blood on the floor. Even without the 7th gate he could intercept Madara’s TSB so he can dodge Amaterasu, remember he needs to at least merely dodge it, no need to make a counter attack like Ay did.
4- V4 Susano is the only Susano that can tank Hirudora, and Itachi can’t hold it for too long, and Gai has full knowledge on it, so as soon as it goes down, Gai blows it away with Hirudora.

Alternative ending: Gai goes for an initial speed blitz using the 7th gate from the beginning and engaginf Itachi on on CQC, then when he is close enough he uses Hirudora, itachi won’t be on time to activate v4 susano since against Sasuke’s kirin he was only on time to activate v2 susano, there’s no reason to believe he can summon v4 susano that fast, because v4 susano wouldn’t have gotten destroyed by Kirin.

It's actually not and i've explained why in good detail. Amaterasu will hit him before the blood falls and scan 29 if perfect proof. You have 0 proof that that was 6 or 5th gate Gai. 7th Gate is the only reason for bringing out a v4 Susanoo possible he could survive it even if he decides to go with a v3 which Madara was shown with minor damage after his v3 was hit with Hirudora. The starting distance is 80m that will give Itachi more than enough time to activate v4 Susanoo.​

1-You missed my point here, i wasn’t reffering to Gai trying to make a long ranged battle, i was reffering to the fact that if itachi tries to make it a long ranged battle (to save chakra by eliminating the need of using Susano) he still wouldn’t be safe since Gai can also keep a med-long ranged battle.
2-Gai has more stamina than Itachi and it’s a fact. First of all, all he did during the war arc was more impressive and probably chakra taxing than what Itachi did against Sasuke, for example, here, he fought a whole Bijuu by his own using the 5th gate. While Bee and Naruto were bussy against the 4th tails and Kakashi was fighting the remaining v2 jins, he had to manage by just himself against a full bijuu, now, the rest of the fight was out paneled until Naruto came out, but Gai kept up with a bijuu since scan 1 to scan 2 (showed below) and did it using the gates (as showed in scan 1). Gai’s stamina grew a lot during the war arc.

1- Gai had stamina left after using Hirudora because he has very high stamina stats by facts, you say its only because he didn’t perform any other abilities prior to it but that’s completely wrong, he used summoning jutsu and the 6th gate before using hirudora.

So, he used summoning jutsu, the 6th gate for akakusaku and then used hirudora and he still had stamina left. And only after they had already taken Kisame as their prisoner for interrogation he suffered the results of using Hirudora.

2- Already debunked the Kurama avatar thing. Being inside the kurama avatar does not increase your stamina or heal your wounds. I already showed you the scans were Kurama kept Gai inside his Avatar to keep him safe and clearly says “I’ll restore him later”, meaning that he wasn’t being restored at the time. This is proven by the fact that Gai still looks like shit after getting out of the avatar, which means the avatar did not restore him, as kurama stated he was supposed to restore him after that, but he never got the chance. That’s completely different than getting your own personal mini avatar which naruto gave the entire army. Two completely different things. Gai being inside the avatar didn’t increase his stamina!

See? Shizune took care of Gai and after that we see him joining the fight again. Being inside the kurama avatar didn’t resore him as I already showed on my first post.

So gai’s stamina is already proven to be superior, not to mention, his use of the gates grew a lot during the war arc and you failed to proof it was because he was inside the avatar before, since I already countered that argument.

1- Okay you first need to learn the difference between fighting a fast opponent sunshin-wise and fighting a fast opponent CQC-wise
A blind Itachi kept up with Sasuke, who at the same time kept up with v1 Ay. Okay, that’s your argument? This is the same mistake you made with KM Naruto here, let me tell you why, V1 Ay is really fast using sunshin (movement) but does not have good feats on striking speed and hand speed for CQC. So beating him on a CQC battle is even less impressive than keeping up with KM Naruto.
By feats, the best CQC fighter by a long gap is Obito (wit kamui). He could fight any opponent on CQC and no one could touch him, while he could still attack them (as he showed against Danzo’s assistants and Naruto), and Gai keeping up with him in a CQC battle is >>>> Itachi being superior than Sasuke (who can’t be compared to Obito). Sasuke being able to get the upper hand against Ay on CQC is irrelevant, since Ay is really fast on CQC but his striking speed is not that high (the same for KM naruto).
Naruto kept up with v2 Ay on CQC because they have the same CQC skills, which is not impressive, they’re both physically fast but they don’t have quick hand speed and striking speed with pure taijutsu.

2- So, in CQC:
Obito > Gai >> KM Naruto and Ay. Sunshin speed is not related to striking speed.

Not sure if I follow what you mean in the first sentence, but anyways, Obito was trying to warp KM Naruto to the pocket dimension and would have accomplished it if Gai wasn’t there.
Against Gai, Obito had the same intention, he was trying to warp Gai to the pocket timension and failed to do so, and the difference with Naruto is that Gai did not need any help against him. So Gai is clearly >> KM Naruto in CQC prowess, idk why are you spinning so much around this subject.
On the scan you gave Gai attacked Obito as a part of Kakashi’s plan, he was forcing Obito to materialize so Naruto could attack. So it was all under Kakashi’s instructions, Obito reacted to Gai because he fell to kakashi’s trap. Gai was just acting under kakashi’s instructions.

One thing he didn't have to worry about is finger genjutsu which means he won't even be able to look at Itachi's face or hands which im waiting to see how Gai will still over come Itachi while not look at his face and his hands especially without gates. Kakashi nor Obito aren't anywhere near as proficient with Genjutsu as Itachi. How come? Finger genjutsu is simply putting chakra in the finger.​

I doubt that was just putting chakra on the finger. Itachi obviously prepped that jutsu and made It to a steady object who was distracted by conversation, totally different to a jutsu that could be performed on the middle of a battle, since it was not used on the heat of battle, Itachi did it while talking and naruto was a steady object. There’s no way itachi can perform a genjutsu of that scale with just his finger in the middle of a CQC battle. Finger genjutsu can’t be done on the heat of a battle against someone of Gai’s speed, who wouldn’t give Itachi the time to do whatever he did against Naruto, since I doubt Gai is gonna stand there steady like naruto did giving itachi the most important thing: time to perform.
Also, I didn’t say Gai was fighting Itachi in base, that’s the opposite to what I said in my last post. I showed you scans of Base Gai facing Obito just to show you that Base gai is already superior to itachi in CQC. Against Itachi he would be engaging Itachi with gates because he has full knowledge and has to be prepared to dodge amaterasu at any time. Yes Kisame could track his movements easily with just a regular eye plus this was a 30% percent clone for that matter. Kisame did get only due to Gai's superior striking speed because they attacked each other at the same time.(

1- You say Kisame could track his movements with a regular eye, but still you fail to see what really happened there, Kisame says “so fast” before getting his face pwned because he saw Gai changing positions from his initial position to his final position (right next to kisame). That’s totally different from tracking his movements, tracking his movements would have been to detect where Gai was moving to, but kisame only managed to barely see Gai moving. Hell, by that logic I can say that Yamato can track KM naruto’s movements with a naked eye, which is obviously not true. So “tracking his movements” is totally different to barely see a change on the opponent position.

So kisame got his face wrecked because he couldn’t track Gai’s movements, he could only realize Gai had moved… nothing else than that. Tough you are right saying Itachi is superior to kisame in reaction speed and movement speed, but that’s nothing new, I never said Gai is speed blitzing Itachi like that with a strike, as I already mentioned, Gai’s movement speed is not that fast, so he isn’t speed blitzing itacih with the 6th gate, but he is in fact faster than him on CQC movements, which is what we’re arguing here.

2- why are you denying facts? Are you really saying Gai kept up with Obito with the help of Naruto and Kakashi when it is really clear that it was exactly the other way around? Gai was the one protecting Naruto, nor Naruto nor Kakashi helped Gai on that CQC battle against Obito, he did it all by himself. Base Gai kept up with Obito, let alone Gai with gates. Obito is a lot better than Itachi on CQC and it was a draw. Using old scans from kisame is not helping here. (Not to mention you failed to understand Kisame definitely didn’t track Gai’s movements). So forget about this, Itachi would have trouble against base Gai if he engages a CQC battle, let alone if Gai opens gates. Itachi’s best option is to use susano right of the bat and keep it as a med ranged fight.

3- War arc Gai >> Early shippuden Gai. So what happened against Kisame is irrelevant.

Itachi already showed he can use Amaterasu multiple times and still use Susanoo if needed. Scans 2,3 and 4 addressed that claim. Gai will have to constantly use gates so he'll run out of stamina and energy way faster than Itachi who still managed to out-last Hebi Sasuke who had multiple long dragged out battles. Urm nope. If v2 Ei speed was truly that much superior to Amaterasu he wouldn't have built up his chakra for a huge speed-burst.(

). I've torn down the speed of 6th gate Gai it shouldn't be mentioned anymore here. ​

1- Gai can fight with the gates opened for a long time, I already proved at the stamina part, the only gate ha can’t keep opened for a long time is the 7th, but against Itachi he doesn’t need to use the 7th gate permanently. So Itachi is definitely not outlasting Gai, who in just base would give him trouble, so Gai won’t have need to use Gates during the whole battle.

2- V2 Ay’s speed is so much higher than amaterasu’s that Ay managed to dodge it without dropping a sweat and even made a counter attack. You saying that wasn’t a counter attack is truly stupid, dodging the attack and at the same time going to the opponents back to attack him is already a counter attack. That’s what counter attacking is, your opponent attacks you and you fodderize that attack with another attack (in this case Ay fodderized amaterasu with sunshin). Sasuke having time to cover his ribcage in enton means nothing, since he can do that really fast, meaning his mind could react to the counter attack, but his body couldn’t. Ay’s speed >>>> Amaterasu’s. Gai barely needs a small fraction of that speed to be able to dodge it. Intercepting a TSB (which is even faster than kakashi’s kamui) is good enough to assume he can dodge amaterasu.

3- I never said Gai would be looking towards Itachi’s eyes to see if amaterasu is coming. He would be looking at the floor. You say amaterasu would hit Gai before the blood reaches the floor? That’s BS, the blood comes out a lot before the fire, here you have 2 manga scans as proof:

On the first scan we see blood in the floor and then amaterasu, so this is proof enough, but if you want more proof, then read the 2nd scan, when the blood comes out Nagato had enough time to tell naruto that itachi was about to use amaterasu and Bee had enough time to point and throw a knife to Itachi. So between the blood coming out and the fire coming out there’s a pretty big time lapse, where de blood would reach the floor (canonically showed on scan 1) and Gai would be on time to dodge. So yes, the blood does in fact reach the floor (thus letting Gai know Itachi is using amaterau) before the fire comes out.

4- No, gai doesn’t need the 7th gate to dodge amaterasu, his 6th or 5th gate is enough, since he was able to intercept TSB (which is a lot faster than amaterasu) without the 7th gate. So you dind’t torn down anything.
You keep showing old scans from 6th gate and saying its speed is not enough for dodging amaterasu, and I again tell you that I don’t give a rats ass about old scans, the latest scan shows Gai in 6th or 5th gate being fast enough to intercept TSB, so forget about his fight against 30% kisame. Gai obviously became faster during the war arc.

5- If amaterasu does in fact hit him, and he opens the 7th gate to expel the flames from his body, of course he would get some damage, but not as much damage as what Nagato took, since Nagato was an Edo and didn’t feel pain, he took his time before taking the flames out, look:

Nagato was there on the floor with Amaterasu all over his body for a while before he expelled it from his body, that’s why he took damage. Gai wouldn’t be wasting time like that, as soon as Amaterasu gets him he takes the flames out.

Point proven with the Kurama and Gai thing. He used his v3 Susanoo most likely because there no way a v2 Susanoo is allowing him to survive Kirin. Also yes Hirudora did bust a v3 Susanoo but Madara didn't show any sign of heavy damage in the very next panel.(

It's actually not and i've explained why in good detail. Amaterasu will hit him before the blood falls and scan 29 if perfect proof. You have 0 proof that that was 6 or 5th gate Gai. 7th Gate is the only reason for bringing out a v4 Susanoo possible he could survive it even if he decides to go with a v3 which Madara was shown with minor damage after his v3 was hit with Hirudora. The starting distance is 80m that will give Itachi more than enough time to activate v4 Susanoo.​

Being inside kurama’s avatar is not the same as getting your own personal mini avatar which naruto gave to everyone on the army. Okay… you do realize that Madara was an edo and could regenerate? Also, do you realize that from the moment the Susano was destroyed to the moment madara showed up back again there’s a whole chapter? After madara’s susano was destroyed he didn’t show up for a whole chapter, meaning he was regenerating from that blast and you said he took no damage? He obviously regenerated because he’s an edo, nothing more.

3- Gai does smack Itachi as explained above in CQC. Moving on, you keep saying things without sense, Gai doesn’t need to look to itachi’s face to know amaterasu is coming, he simply watches the floor and the blood will show up (a lot before than the fire, I alredy gave two clear examples).

4- Amaterasu doesn’t hit him before the blood comes out, your example was terrible, it only showed Sasuke using amaterasu, the floor wasn’t even showed. On the other hand, I gave manga proof that the blood reaches the floor before the fire comes out.


Summary:
1- Gai on base was able to keep up with Obito on CQC (who is a lot stronger than Itachi on that area). TRE MERCER showed me scans of Itachi keeping up with KM Naruto and Sasuke on CQC, who are both a lot weaker than Obito on CQC (sunshin speed is not the same than striking speed). So Gai is a lot superior on this area.

2- Genjutsu is countered by not looking at itachi’s eyes. Finger genjutsu is not being performed on the heat of a battle against someone of gai’s caliber.

3- Gai can keep gates opened more time than before. As I already gave scans, he can fight with them without suffering a huge chakra loss, which only happens with the 7th gate, but Gai won’t need it unless itachi brings out susano.

4- Amaterasu is dodged. The blood would appear on the floor before the fire comes out as I already showed there’s a pretty big time gap between the blood on the floor and the fire (already happened canonically in Sasuke vs Ay and already showed how Nagato had time to tell naruto what itachi was doing and KB had time to throw a knife at itachi). Gai doesn’t need the 7th gate to dodge it since he was able to intercept TSB with just the 6th gate or 5th. TRE MERCER was trying to down play 6th gate’s speed showing old scans from Gai vs Kisame, which are irrelevant since war arc Gai > early shippuden Gai.

5- If amaterasu does hit Gai, he expels the flames from his body. Nagato took a big damage because he had the flames on his body for a long time (the whole naruto and itachi conversation) while Gai would take out the flames instantly using the force of the gates as I already showed on my first post.

6- Already gave enough proof to say that Gai’s stamina is >> Itachi’s, already gave proof that gai’s stamina was not affected by being inside kurama’s cloack, so if itachi uses v4 Susano, Gai just waits for it to down grade to a weaker version to bust it up with Hirudora, GG Itachi.
