Yeah, the child's umbilical cord is usually kept by their mother and given to the child when she leaves the house from what i have heard. The umbilical cord in old tradition was used for medicinal purposes for the child

First it was it's Japanese custom for the parents to keep the cord, now it's Japanese custom for the doctor to keep the cord...
