Gai vs Itachi (No restrictions)

This isn't something that is easily solved unless it were to actually happen.

Both are "progressive fighters", but neither will hesitate to pull output the big guns if they know what they're up against. Gai can only even afford to get hit once by Amaterasu, but Itachi has to be careful not to take any hits from Gai. It's all well and good Gai using the not-look-at-the-eyes method, but look what that did for Naruto.

On the flip side, Itachi was well aware of Gai's capabilities and warned Kisame against underestimating him so is he going to fight slowly? Maybe not. At the end of the day, it comes to who "progresses" quicker through their arsenal.

@Bold, Why didn't you say, look what that did for Kakashi? Gai's experience surpasses both.

Itachi tends to end fights quickly. Unless Gai starts out using Eighth Gate, Itachi probably finishes the fight before he can get there. Plus, if Gai starts opening gates, Itachi would probably counter using Susano'o, presumably sealing him before he can reach Eighth Gate.

How will 8th gate Gai get past Yata? This battle is not going to distance. Itachi seals him. And idk why ppl say gai is immune to genjutsu because he looks at the feet. You think itachi can't think of another counter? Tsukuyomi ends the battle as well. Amaterasu also ends the battle. Itachi is just too clever. Too good for Gai.
