I'd say that the only reason that boruto gets to fight in the final fight is to try to stop (save) his friend. Plus kishi keeps pushing mitsuki's "mysterious" past, and the fact that he had just moved to the village.

Since Shikadai made it to the finals there is a huge possiblity that he could have defeated him. It might not have been Boruto who needed to do that.

Ah. That actually makes a lot of sense. I always wondered how boruto would fight in a battle with the kages and Sasuke/Naruto. It would make sense that he is battling someone more his level. "The Superior shinobi" Mitsuki.

It would also explain why it's usually only boruto and sarada being advertised. Even with just those 2, Team 7 2.0 will still be hax.
