Bored and was scanning through Naruto vs Sasuke fight and was wondering how Sasuke used preta path without his rinnegan(eyes closed, ran out of chakra).

Why would a technique that acts to absorb chakra, have a drain on chakra? That seems counterproductive

Good points but don't see why the eye has to be open for to absorb chakra and the absorption would only add to his chakra not deplete

I never said it drains chakra, I said he had no chakra left to use rinnegan, reason why his left eye is closed, yet he uses a rinnegan tech

Techniques such as Amaterasu and Kamui are the only ones that require eye-sight to use, as they are actually dependent on what the user is looking at. As long as Sasuke has the Rinnegan in his socket, he can use any of the Six Paths. He was able to use the Preta Path even when low on chakra however because it doesn't use up nearly as much as it takes in.

If you look at some pages before, he could still use his rinnegan, He just couldn't control it properly. That's why he closed it. His eyes being closed does not affect the tech, as preta works through the body anyways. By DB description of preta path, preta path should actually take no chakra to use. He can do it even when completely drained.

He also absorbed chakra with no eyes.

Yeah. Really So what's the point of having the eyes. If one can use almost every tech without the eyes. If Sasuke lost is eyes, all he would loose are tech that require eyesight to use. Solo glance and Amaterasu. and also sharingan precog. ie. a blind SM Sasuke would be more powerful than regular sasuke with eyes.

He doesn't need Rinnegan activated to use certain techniques, as demonstrated when Blind Madara displayed Preta Path just before fighting the Biju.

Because 1. Who wants to stay blind?
2. In case you haven't noticed, Sasuke mainly uses Amaterasu and Susano'o, he'd basically lose half his fighting style, it's a sad truth
3. Again, who wants to stay blind??

No such thing as being completely drained, unless your dead :hint:

Because dojutsu relies on chakra to work no matter how easy the feat is. No chakra = No jutsu.

Except you seem to forget that his Rinnegan is active 24/7, closing your eye won't change that, unless you mean to say every eye power you have activated gets deactivated every time the character blinks...
You also seem to forget that you can't be completely drained unless you are dead. Because having 0 chakra=dead... So if the technique costs 0.1 chakra, and the user has 1 chakra point left, he can use the move

No, I agree closing your eye doesn't de-activate dojutsu but it does conserve energy hence why he's always covering it with his hair like Kakashi covered his Sharingan with the headband.

Having 0 chakra means death so the less chakra the user has the less they can use their jutsu to the point they won't be able to use it anymore. Otherwise Naruto would have infinite chakra in Sage Mode, which he cleary doesn't

But as I said, if chakra could be put into points, Preta Path would logically cost as close to 0 chakra as possible, due to the fact that it works mainly to absorb chakra, so if it cost a large or even moderate amount of chakra, there would be no point in using it. Also, it is their choice to change how they use their chakra, just because their low doesn't mean they are forced to use less chakra, they could put the last of it into their technique to try and take the enemy down with them. So no, Sage Mode Naruto would not have unlimited chakra, that logic doesn't even make sense
