Your definition of realism eludes me. I see Naruto as a very forgiving character, whereas Sasuke seeks vengeance. I don't see Naruto's loving/forgiving nature to be unrealistic. Naruto IS naive and childlike, however, that's one of the morals of the whole Naruto storyline here. Determination should be the real measurement of maturity.
Naruto didn't even know what love was, prior to,"Naruto: The Last." In fact, he compares his infatuation to Sakura as to his beloved ramen.

Like Naruto, Sakura never gave up on him, and always believed that they could bring back the good Sasuke, that is the Sasuke who they wanted, and they succeedee in bringing him back.
