Why do fancy Karin?

Here's an analysis I wrote a few weeks ago


One big difference between Karin and Sakura is Karin's background in comparison to Sakura. Karin's entire village was burned to the ground and every villager murdered, including her family. As the sole survivor, who knows how long she wandered around before Orochimaru found her and took her in. He's the worst possible person to provide with a sense of purpse and identity, but he does. He groomed her from a young child, and of course she clings to the perceived generosity, being too young or naive to know any better. She was subjected to experimentation and all manners of cruel and painful shit. She grew up in Orochimaru's labs, being subjected to all manner of depraved behavior and sights. Perhaps, in this way, seeing Sasuke's smile again may have reminded her of some sort of light, probably one of the few true acts of kindness she can remember receiving. So yeah, Karin's horny and aggresive, but considering the way she grew up, I think "I just wanted to see you smile again" is a pretty rare kindness and humanity for one to still possess.

Meanwhile, we have Sakura. Both parents alive and loving. Multitudes of friends. One of her friend's only desire in their friendship was to see her truly blossom and reach her fullest potential. Two of her friends, as well as her first friend, are willing to die for her. Had a normal, trauma free childhood. Has people constantly trying to protect her. Trained by two legendary ninjas. Lives in one of the strongest villages surrounded by people who care about each other. She has and had more than 95% of the characters in this manga, and she displays less backbone, self esteem, and substance than a side character who had virtually none of the things she was blessed to have in her life. My point being that Karin's depravity can be understood through her depraved upbringing. Its not an excuse, but we don't have to expect much from her. Meanwhile, Sakura is the heroine of the series and is content with being treated like garbage and her highest aspiration is getting this guy that makes her feel like shit to be with her, and can't even drudge up any substantial or intelligent thoughts about his person or communicate anything of depth about her feelings .

Another difference is that Karin is made of tougher stuff than Sakura. Perhaps its why Sakura looks just as pathetic in comparison. While Karin didn't shed a tear when Sasuke tried to kill her, Sakura breaks down. While Sakura's world comes to a screeching halt when Sasuke doesn't notice her in the face of one of the strongest ninja in the world, Karin wouldn't have batted an eye. She may be horny, but Sasuke's brusque or otherwise plain manner of expressing himself doesn't tear away at her self esteem the way it does Sakura. Even normal things, such as telling her she can't come with him on his redemption journey, send her spiraling into self pity and angst.

This isn't some anti Sakura, pro-Karin thing, but it is sad that the main heroine and girl in the pairing is really no different than the character they love to bash in comparison, and practically anything that can be said about one doubles back on the other. Like the manga shows, Sakura's sole advantage and relevance to Sasuke being she was on Team 7, and any Sasuke fangirl on his team would have gotten the D just the same. Sad, but hilarious.

A very big slap to entire Sakura fan base. May be some fan will convert them self into Karin fan..

Sakura fans love using the Kaguya hit as some impressive feat. But the truth is, it only happened because Kaguya flew into her. Nothing was preventing Kaguya from flying forward, backward, or dropping down.

She's not shown much on panel, but when she is shown, I like seeing the way she presents herself and her interaction with her teammates, especially with Suigetsu. I like her flirtatious desire to be with Sasuke because it makes her have her own personality. She isn't always like this though. Sometimes she will take a little hit on Sasuke and talk about him, but at the end she will go back to flirting with him. That's why I find her funny.

We don't know the specifics about the Uzumaki clan, but it was good to hear that she came from that clan, and being able to aquire a justu that only they have was cool.

Her character design is great. It matches her character and it brings a more 'naughty secretary look' or one that is in control of what she wants. I like her hair and her eyes. Her glasses fit so well with her creation too.

Her life living with Orochimaru - well I always liked people who were under Orochimaru for some reason like Kimimaro and Tayuya. It just seemed like those type of people had a way of doing things themselves without having to be under some political village. Karin goes under that category too.

I like her because she is alone, doesn't have any family, clan was destroyed, but can still act the way she does. I like her because she is very loyal to team Taka when they were formed. She cared about Suigetsu and Jugo and even questioned Sasuke turn to darkness. At one moment she DID get over him, but we should expect that our lady Karin would not get over Sasuke.

The reasons why I like Karin more than Sakura is because Karin never disrespected orphans.
>Karin's character is not serious so when she "flirts" or get "obssessed" with Sasuke it is to be expected unlike Sakura who feels she should be in love with him even after 3 killing attempts.
>Karin seems to handle her character a lot better than Sakura. For someone who still has parents like Sakura, I don't think she has the right to be sad when Karin herself was always alone.

Even if Sasuke was turned to darkness, it was because Karin went with what Sasuke wanted to the very end is why she didn't try to kill him + she never had the power to even stop him so she was being smart about her life. The most she could do was question him about his actions.

All together, when I see Karin written on panel, she makes me laugh, she has an enjoyable side to her, her characterization is classy and amazing.

i'm indifferent toward sakura, but her character is no better or worse than karins...which is unfortunate bcuz of how prominently she is casted.

Some fun facts. Karin has been pointed out as Sasuke's "favorite" (by Tobi), as the girl he "has been about to hook up with"(by Suigetsu) and as the girl he "knows quite well" by Kabuto; hence why a lot of sasuke fans also like her.

its a bloodline limit. Meaning uzumaki's can do it. yet out the entire clan only two actually did.Even oro refers it to a kushina specific ability despite stating its in the blood.

Shin has yet to be defeated. Meaning who else lands hits on him has yet to be seen.

Karin is more like dangerous school girl that you cant get bored.
While Sakura is nothin more than big voice, annoyance character, copy cat... anything that make you vomit after seeing her action for more than 1 panel...
