First of all I am pretty sure you guys know my preferences on the subject but what I am about to say is leaving all bias aside and is truly the impression I am getting. So look at this situation holistically as well.

I didn't bet on either Karin or Sakura but I was pretty confident Sarada was Karin's daughter after last chapter.

However, after reading this week's chapter I am not so sure anymore for several reasons. Notice Sarada already conversed with Naruto and accepted the fact that Sakura is not blood-related to her (Supposedly) and she already decided to save her, thus already establishing that bonds > blood, and all of this was before we heard anything from Sakura and Sasuke themselves. So this still leaves room for a twist.

I've seen people mention little Sarada's clothes and glasses and their uncanny resemblance to adult Karin's attire. This is spot on, they are too similar, thus some people say this is further proof that she is Karin's daughter.

^This side by side looks so cute xd

But let's think about it for a second, choice of attire is a result of nurture rather than nature, and Sakura is the one nurturing Sarada, therefore this could very well be a mislead from Kishi to further play with our minds. Funny thing is people were using the attire argument (Gaiden version) against Sakura being the mother as it was the only apparent similarity (subjective), but right now we can also say the same thing regarding Karin, Sarada's glasses and childhood attire are the only similarities to us readers (subjective) and also the characters (Sarada was only ever compared to Karin by her glasses, nothing else so far, Sasuke is the one she was compared to regarding actual features).

Another point people mention is the kiss question, and this one is hilarious, for some reason some people assume Sakura never kissed Sasuke AND is a virgin only from her facial expression after the question. xd

That is an incredibly rash and baseless assumption given their marriage, the expression could imply many things, notice she was blushing, who is to say their last kiss didn't occur when Sasuke left? Thus being a sad and emotional moment? Think about this, why mention it in the first place, it might be referenced later and noticed how she quickly changed her demeanor when she remembered something better, which was the forehead poke, because that's when he said "I'll be back" which is what Sarada wants, thus Sakura did it to Sarada.

^Most people overlooked what she said, "I'll tell you next time", keep that in mind it could be referenced later.

Lastly and most importantly, notice the way Sasuke and Sakura address and talk about each other. Sakura and Sasuke constantly referring to each other as husband and wife. Sakura explaining that Sasuke is on his mission because he really cares about her and Sarada. Sasuke talking positively about his wife.

This gives us a clear indication of their relationship as husband and wife. Making it extremely difficult to imagine how and why would Sasuke have a child with another woman who did not even appear and probably won't.

I am not saying she is Sakura's daughter for sure, because right now we have evidence that says the opposite (DNA test), however, I am saying it is far from confirmed right now. The whole situation seems very fishy if we consider Karin to be the mother, it could go either way with proper explanation, but based on the bold red text above, I would say there is a higher probability for a turn around and for Sakura to be the mother after all. 50/50 or even 70/30 for Sakura.

TO those who say that Karin is the mom, does the DNA test prove everything?? Not to mention that SUigetsu operated the testing. SUigetsu. Suigetsu.

We have yet to hear from Sasuke Sakura and Karin themselves. Those three would shed light on the truth for real. Heck even Naruto plays the odd card. He wont spill solid proof. Ugh.

I hope all these Sarada's drama pay off nice. COnnect it to a bigger plotline. Finally put closure into the Karin-Sakura Mother Issue.

I still think Karin is the mother. Kishi wants to go with the whole bonds>>blood relation theme as shown by Naruto's speech and the conversation with Shin in the previous chapter.

Yes, but notice the first part of the OP, I mentioned that the theme was already established this chapter after Naruto and Sarada's conversation, because she thinks she is not blood related but she already chose to save her.

This whole Karin-Sakura business is seeming very melodramatic and over the top. I honestly wonder how Kishi can wrap this shit up into something that actually is fluent in the story (I hope he does though), it just seems like bad writing atm in my opinion. I don't really care all that much which one it is but if it IS Sakura than what role does Karin play in this whole shamozzle? Because it's obvious that she will be introduced at some point soon in Gaiden and if she isn't the mother I wonder what significance as a character she will hold. If she was just complete troll bait for the Uchiha family drama than I will be pretty disappointed.

Basically, it's still up in the air. The dramatic yarn that Kishi is spinning 'can' resolve in quite a few ways at the moment, most of which entail a yoking together of all the characters involved in this mini-series (of course, this is obvious, but...)

What will get the most dramatic 'closure' at this moment? Sakura actually being biological mom is a possibility. But Kishi taking it easy and going with the pre-ordained conclusion from last chapter is also a winner. But I suspect that we'll definitely see a TWIST. This twist may either corroborate Kmom or Smom in whatever way it does.

The thing is, if Kishi is using 'lacking info' to push us towards to a conclusion, Karin as mother is possible owing to Naruto's expectation that Sasuke was cheating on somebody else. The clarification could be that S was surrogate, which seems to be the most realistic in my mind at the moment. But that being said, we really can't jump the gun.

the moral that Kishi is trying to tell from that chap is that the biology simply doesn't matter

but yea, its either Sakura gave birth or Sarada was conceived through other means. Karin isn't the mother through sexy times :sdo:
