I want to find my adopted brother who was given up by my mother when I was 4 years old but unfortunately I cannot start the journey to find him right now however I wanted to opinions. Is it selfish of me to seek my brother out?

I'm not looking for him to rain on his parade or even take him back because where ever he is that is his home and family but I want to fill this emptiness I have. I want to know how he is, who he has become, is he living well, or even what's his personality like? Maybe he likes Naruto too.. Idk.

I just want to get to know him. Hell, maybe he doesn't he have to know I'm his sibling. I could be the random family friend who comes around or something idk.

Well this is sad. This is one extraordinary case. Well you should begin for the search of your brother right now like Sasuke did. Hopefully you find your brother.

This isn't selfish at all! If I were you I would probably feel the same way tbh. Go for it man! Find him! :D

I can't really tell you but if you feel that strongly about it you should. Just be ready that he might not be happy about it.

It is selfish though since your only satisfying your curiosity. BUT that shouldn't stop you, some of the best things are born from selfish actions. And even the things that people do for others are mostly for themselves as well.

No, that seems like sincere curiosity. But honestly, I would let him seek you and your family out. If an adopted child wants to know their real family, they'll certainly take that upon themselves. That's what my own father did. But maybe that's an emotional journey that he doesn't want to take.

Don't see how that is selfish, but ok. I guess he'd appreciate it and feel cared for if his own lost brother went to search him up.

I also wanted to say that me being curious isn't all that is making me want to find him. It's the fact that him being gone has really put a dent on me and my older brother's relationship and a part of me feels missing especially since I never got to say goodbye. I just want to see him one last time.

Thanks for all the honest replies.
