If Kakashi(the sixth hokage) , Naruto , Gai and killer bee weren't in the war .Then tobi would of won easily . The previous gokage had no way of beating tobi , they would of lost against him like they lost against madara ( who didnt go all out ) . Unlike team Kakashi the gokage arent as skilled, quick or powerful enough to have techniques and battle plans to be able to hit tobi when he uses his time space justu . Also if sasuke joined the war with tobi ( seen as he doesnt meet edo itachi) then there would of be no one to defeat him as well. Mangafacts the war was only won because of four people so when people bash tobi saying he didn't think the war out there wrong , the ninja alliance could only beat powerful ninjas like obito or sasuke if naruto,gai , killer bee or kakashi were fighting them .
