It isn't the same. Naruto's circumstances were different.
He had no one when he was growing up because he was a Jinchuriki, the village had a reason to despise and shun him (not that I would ever call what they did justifiable). He didn't have a single friend nor did he have any parents.
Boruto and Himawari aren't anywhere close to having that much emotional baggage. They're loved by the whole village, have both their parents alive and well and aren't Jinchuriki's.
Naruto expects Bolt to understand the pain of not having a parent around because he himself has already gone through it. Its not as if he's trying to purposely avoid his children, his duties as Hokage must come first.
Bolt resents his father because Naruto must have spent a shit ton of time with him when he was growing up. Suddenly having your object of affection spend less time with you would make any kid resentful.
