Dude thought his daughter was about to die. Probably wasn't thinking straight. Or maybe he just wanted to prove he could take a hit like naruto. Either way I'm disapointed in everyone in that chapter. I mean wtf!?!? Still enjoyed the chapter though. Really showed how rusty they've gotten.

There was no immediate threat or goal for him like Madara and Hagoromo.

Rinnegan's anti-unit abilities and Susanoo arrows could have dealt with them without killing them, easily.

Sasuke had a million and one options. But he picked the one that would give the most feels. Unfortunately, the overall nerfing in the chapter overshadows his protecting his daughter with his own body. No one even cares.
