Brief reflection on abilities of Gaara:
From early childhood, Gaara is hailed as a very powerful shinobi, being able to easily defeat his Anbu uncle Yashamaru, successfully complete a B-rank mission as a genin, and even become the Fifth Kazekage at age 15. Born as a jinchūriki, Gaara gained Shukaku's immense reserves of chakra and stamina. His chakra was also noted by Kiba Inuzuka to be very strong. Thus, he is able to use many chakra-taxing sand-based techniques, sometimes in quick succession, before becoming exhausted. As a host of Shukaku, Gaara possesses the ability to freely manipulate sand to serve various purposes. The focus of his fighting style, Gaara's control and cunning in using this ability is formidable, able to control immense amounts at one time for feats. As the second element of his combat style, Gaara has various sand defences should opponents gets too close. His primary defence is his Shield of Sand, forming a barrier to surround and protect Gaara on its own. While automatic, Gaara can control its strength-level to steel-like quality or make it completely surround him in a defensive sphere of sand. While an effective defence, the shield can be overcome with extremely high-speed or sharp attacks.[26] Should this happen, Gaara can create a thin layer of sand covering his skin called the Armour of Sand. Although useful in softening blows, the armour requires large amounts of chakra to remain active, and also has the side-effect of weighing Gaara down.[27] The defences offered by his sand are so powerful, they have been named the "Absolute Defence" (絶対防御, Zettai Bōgyo)

Gaara’s main problems with sasuke is. His speed (tho sasuke cannot maintain that level for long). Reaching curse mark level 2 and chidori variants.
with that being said chakra gaara outclasses sasuke due to being a jinjurchi, the same can be said about stamina as well. also combo with the fact that curse marks (lvl 1 already activated) eats away at users chakra and stamina till its no more only helps gaara win this fight faster. Sasuke while having good physical prowess It is not on the level of both 5th gate rock lee or CM2 kimmimaru… now i will counter the three things gaara needs to watch out for
Countering Sasuke speed: is pretty fast compared to gaara yes but the gaara i am using was able to easily counter Kimmimaru's speed (which seems to be just as fast a weightless lee, yes that was a weightless lee fighting kimmimaru because lee just healed so he would not have weighs on his injury) by summoning more sand (which he can do while attacking and defending at same time) which is no problem for him

either way gaara's defense is fast enough to avoid sasuke even with curse mark
countering sasuke chidori: if sasuke is charging chidori can be stopped like this

as he has no sensing techs. Kimmimaru has a stronger body and bones so he should not be able to get out of it as kimmiaru was not able to.
He also will not be able to avoid this

even if sasuke survives the sand tsunami (unlikely he does not have the durability to do so) gaara can sink him 200 meters inside the ground where he surely will not be able to survive the pressure
i also want to point out gaara destroyed kimmimaru strongest bone with his defense.. so for regular chidori( not the curse mark lvl 2 one) the bone thing kimmimaru did should be more piercing then sasukes chidori so it should not be able to get through this

sasuke physical assult: as stated above sasuke even in curse mark lvl 2 should not be physically stronger then curse mark 2 Kimmimaru as his kekki genkai makes him more physically stronger and more durable despite being sick. also with lee gaara was able to attack and defend as well so even if sasuke is attacking gaara can defend from him as well as attack.. which sasuke will constantly be on the run

sasuke fire style: should be counter easily even though sand is not doton specifically it still is earth and earth > fire in naruto
in this fight sasuke will not have time to turn into CM2 because he will be to preoccupied with gaara's assault. gaara on the other hand will be creating more sand throughout the entire fight
