I doubt this question has arised on this forum, but it drifted back into my head after some years ago when I had first pondered it. So, do you believe Naruto's "whiskers" are actually whiskers, or a print upon his face, such as a tattoo?

They aren't hairs if that's what you mean, they are the equivalent of a birth mark.

They are sealed Whiskers. So birthmarks.

Do you think kiba was also born with the marks on his face? All the inuzuka have it.

Its Narutos birthmark since he was born into a very royal clan.

He may have been born in a royal clan, but that has nothing to do with his whiskers. It's Kurama's giving, whose chakra may have interfered with Naruto's genes before birth, giving him these whiskers as a birthmark, since Kushina was Kurama's junchuuriki when Naruto was born.

I think it is anyone who takes Kurama's chakra. Recall Ginkaku and Kinkaku also have whiskers like Naruto. The brothers ate some of Kurama's meat when they were trapped in his stomach and gained some of Kurama's chakra.

Likewise, Boruto and Himawari also have a portion. Less, since they inherited it from Naruto.

Didn't I say the same thing? I did mention Naruto taking Kurama's chakra (due to possible interference), didn't I? (In case you think I overlooked this point)

And yes, I'm aware that anyone who takes Kurama's chakra by any means AND makes it a part of his/her own chakra gets the whiskers. I didn't mention about externally receiving Kurama's chakra because I didn't feel it necessary to be added, that's all. I didn't deny it however. Anyway, thanks for apprising...

@bold They didn't get Kurama's chakra. They got Naruto's chakra only. But since Kurama's chakra is a part of Naruto's chakra, technically the whiskers have now become a part of Naruto's genes. That's why Boruto and Himawari have them. If Boruto were to have an offspring, he/she would have whiskers too regardless of Boruto not having Kurama since a small portion of Kurama's chakra has found permanent place within Naruto's DNA and it will carry on.

Well Naruto had whiskers before having Kurama sealed in him, due to Kushina carrying him. Boruto and Himawari presumably have a diluted effect since they have 2 whiskers on each cheek instead of three.

Chakra isn't DNA, so I doubt it'll be inherited forever but Naruto's descendants.

Naruto got them because Kushina was Kurama's jinchuuriki, there was full interference and intermixing of their chakras and that's why it became a permanent part of Naruto's chakra. The only reason it became a part of his DNA/genes also and not just his chakra is because it happened at his birth unlike Kinkaku and Ginkaku who have Kurama's chakra mixed with their chakra but not in their genes.

And Hinata isn't Kurama's jinchuuriki unlike Kushina, so that's why there's a diluted version which only came through Naruto's side due to his DNA (causing birth). But now it's present in their genes as I explained, so it's quite possible for it to continue (the two whisker diluted version which came through Naruto's DNA, since Kurama had no interference in Boruto and Himawari's birth). Chakra isn't DNA, but DNA is chakra (at least in NV as we know from Madara and Hashirama's case), if you know what I mean, so inheritance is viable though not necessary.
