And OMG it like a huge feels trip!

But anyways, it had action and adventure, yes. He went on his first assassination mission with some fodder ANBU and there was a pretty well-written fight scene between him and the Big Bad.

BUT....even more interesting was the romance! I'm female so of course I care more about shippings than actual plot

There was major ShikaTem and even SaiIno.

Towards the end of the light novel, Shikamaru asked Temari out on their first date and it was so cute. SaiIno happened during the mission. Sai was brainwashed so Ino went into his mind to save him and the two realized their true feelings. Sai gave his first 'true smile'. Kinda stupid

AND THEN WE GOT THE BIRTH OF SHIKADAI!!!

Shikamaru was holding him saying he looked like him and I was all "awwwww!!!" And then we got this gem at the very very end:

“I really can’t say anything’s troublesome from now on, huh…” I said.

“You can say it a little.” Temari told me. “If it ever looks like you’re getting so bad that you’ll stop functioning, then I’ll intervene and send you flying back to your senses again. So, it’s okay.”

“Aa, you’re right. Then…”

What are we going to name him?

“How troublesome.”

I give it a 7.5/10. Plot was lacking. There's my review. You're welcome.

Ah, yes, that novel that made me go, "Mind Transfer can do what now?"

Thanks, do you have a link?

I had this exact same reaction. I stopped reading like "wait, what?"

Ino can do that but it isnt the Shintenshin jutsu. The author was confused. He shouldve consulted Kishi

Leave it to Chibs to care more about the romance.

Yeah, pretty sure what she did sounded more like Inoichi's mind-reading than anything.

It was pretty decent. I was too hyped for it though as the action and plot was lacking. The first half was very interesting to the point of addiction though.

Well, the translation sure had a lack of vocabulary repeating words such as "good" or "bad" over and over. It's an okay novel, but the translation is bad.

I don't usually read light novels but from what I understand they're written to be easy to read

I guess that explains the weak/lacking plot. It was a great premise and couldve been expanded upon immensely. It felt kinda rushed to me but I guess light novels aren't mean to be long or extremely detailed

I still enjoyed it tho. The ANBU female irked me to death tho with that "y'know" stuff

Plot was lacking. Shikamaru was a lazy boss at the end though. I enjoyed it a lot more than the last third of the manga
