Kurama doesn't feel like a prisoner because he has forgiven what humans did to him in the past and is Naruto and villages friend. No other person will ever understand Kurama like naruto. So after naruto dies he might just go chill in a cave or something we never know.

Could be due to Naruto having chakra of the other 8 Bijuus; which means Kurama chose to be inside Naruto. Kuruma doesnot live inside a cage anymore, he lives inside an infinite plain of consciousness inside of Naruto + he can take over Naruto's body+ its a million times better then what he got with kushina.

We have no idea what Naruto has been up to as hokage, we dont know what kuruma spends his time doing now- he probably does what we do,- watch Naruto and laugh his ass off .
