sasuke HAS to distant him self and treat sarada like she isnt his, in order for her to fully utilize her eyes. (Perhaps he thinks that way still). Sasuke had trouble unlocking his sharingan as a kid when he was sheltered, (his father didnt like that about him), so perhaps he's trying to help her...by...not helping her?

I understand why he has been away for so long. The threat of something being more powerful than kaguya is very serious. I'm not sure it warrants not being able to pop in on your family even if it's one time a year.
