a time skip doesn't neccessarily mean that a character becomes stronger after. remember in dbz, when it was stated by goku and vegeta that early buu arc gohan was weaker than his cell games version? it's because he didn't train, right? well naruto did just that.

proof:

boruto is mad at his father for very rarely spending time with him (if naruto did infact continued training during the time skip, its only logical for him to take bolt with him)

every chapter hokage naruto was shown (ch 700 to gaiden chapter 2) he was in the hokage office either attending important meetings/or glued to a chair doing countless paper work

the ninja world is at peace by the end of the series, so theres really no point for naruto to train (unlike the hokages before him, they actually had a reason to train as the world was at war during their reigns)

naruto got rusty in gaiden. unable to evade bolts kick on the first chapter means his reaction time had drastically decreased. unable to differentiate whether the bolt he was fighting was a shadow clone or real means his senses got weaker. unable to outrun sarada dragging chocho by the arm with sage mode active despite having a head start means he got slower.

Naruto getting little bit weaker because of not training could be possible, but @bold I've problem with that, in the first chapter Naruto wasn't being serious in the first place, we know that because Shikamaru said he would instantly find Bolt if he used sage mode, so I think that was more of a father-son thing that was going on, and about not being able to outrun Sarada(and this is the part that makes me think you might be trolling)- I just re-read the chapter and it doesn't look like he can't outrun them, he just stopped and decided that it would be faster if he went back to them himself instead of waiting, so he's still pretty fast.

About the bolt thing, Naruto wasn't even being serious, and wasn't that Naruto a shadow clone? And even then why would Naruto fight seriously with his son? He would knock him into the next millenia to get ameno'd back by shirusuke the great great great great great great great great great great great grandson of sasuke. Even shikamaru said Naruto could find him in sage mode easily it could also be that he wasn't really trying as you're just trying to have fun with your son. Also war arc Naruto has NEVER fought in base after he got KCM, even when he through the lava rasenshuriken at madara in base he still quickly immediately went RSM. After the pein arc Naruto is rarely if ever seen fighting in base. I don't think Naruto got weaker at all, I also don't think Naruto was running that fast as he still felt chochou and sarada following him and as hokage he is responsible for everyone. The distance Naruto ran back while shin was fighting sarada and Chochou prove he's gotten a bit faster, his shinshu has also gotten significantly better as he managed to get Chochou out of harms way in the blink of an eye and appear next to sarasa next a feat not shown by Naruto in base form like ever, he's usually in a powered up state to perform this feat. I believe Naruto has gotten stronger to be honest.

By that logic that means Sasuke, Lee, Sakura, Bee, Shino, Choji, Orochimaru, Kabuto and everyone else got weaker. Also your post made no sense, Naruto recently became Hokage in ch. 700 and Bolt was use to spending a lot of time with Naruto which is why he's mad that Naruto been so busy after becoming Hokage; at the end of the last we seen Naruto and Hinata play with both Kids and Naruto was doing a little training before they got home. We seen Naruto's skills greatly increase from War arc to The Last; his base is high Kage at the very least.

Naruto never used his sensory skills in base and shadow clones evenly split chakra amongst the clones which is why sensors can't sense the real one; Byakugan can't even tell the differences. Why would Naruto use his real skills against his son? That does not proof his skills decreased at all. Naruto had 10 years from the Last to when he became Hokage so he has enough time to train while also spending time with his family. Seems like you forgot that Naruto can do years worth of training in a day using shadow clones. He probably mastered the 9 Bijuus abilities, mastered SM/KM/BM/RM (since all modes got more powerful due to full Kurama and he never mastered those modes in war arc), improved chakra control, taijutsu, and weapon usage all in the 2 years between War arc and The Last using his clones to gain mastery extremely fast. Then all he'll have to do is train to keep his skills sharp and as we saw at the end of the last, he did just that.
