[Discussion] dispeling infinite tsukuyomi

im a bit confused on if naruto and sasuke still have the sage power given to them, one thing i read was that they didnt, because there hands were blown off, the hands that had the symbols given to them by the old sage.

but I was reading narutopedia to refresh my memory, and it said after the fight between naruto and sasuke, after they both took each others arm, sakura ran over, started healing them, kakashi watched over, and than sasuke and naruto dispelled infinite tsukuyomi.

but if they dispelled infinite tsukuyomi after loseing those symbols, doesnt that mean they still have the sage power?

or, was it just possible for them to dispell it without their inherited powers?

If someone could clarify id appreciate it

summary: no hands, means no symbols, no symbols means no sage power/ but they dispelled infinite tsukuyomi after loseing hands/ so A. dispelling infinite tsukuyomi doesnt require sage power, or B they still have it.

The symbols are just seals, they are not 100 % linked to Hagoromo's powers. Hagoromo divided his power between Indra and Ashura.

Indra - Power of Moon = Sasuke - Transmigrant.

Ashura - Power of Sun = Naruto - Transmigrant.

As such, they will always have traces of the Rikudou's sun and moon powers. So, losing the Sun and Moon seals will not take away that transmigrated Rikudou chakra, even if it's incomplete (Only Sun for Naruto and Moon for Sasuke).

About dispelling Mugen Tsukuyomi, they only needed to combine thier Sun and Moon hands. The seal hands might have being destroyed, but the other hands acted as a channel for the Sun and Moon chakra to mix.

It's also Symbolic :-

Naruto's Right Hand - Yang (Generally associated with Right).

Sasuke's Left Hand - Yin (Generally associated with Left).

But at the end, they use the opposite arms, so there is an inversion.

Naruto's Left Hand - Yang.

Sasuke's Right Hand - Yin.

Literally, Yin and Yang have merged, there is Yin in Yang and there is Yang in Yin. This represents the grand Ultimate, Hagoromo's Rinnegan representing peace.

they just needed to do the rat seal with bijuus chakra and sasukes rinegan.

i dont think the seals gave them power but im not sure

The symbols on their hands were just for the CT-sealing, the signs returned to Hagoromo so he'd know to start the jutsu. So long as no official source explicitely states they've lost the power, assume they still have it.

The seals didn't give them their power. It was only meant for sealing.

They could form the rat seal together.
You need 2 hands and they both had one to form it together.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes because :-

1- Hagoromo gave them his Chakra + Seals. The seals may be gone, but the chakra will remain with them. This is why Naruto still has Rikudou Sage Mode and Sasuke has his Rinnegan.

2 - Being the transmigrants of Indra and Ashura, they would still have half of Hagoromo's power within them. Naruto - Sun and Sasuke - Moon.
