Can someone tell me, what would be the best order in which to watch this series. I mean which is season 1 and 2, that way. Also I don't want to watch the older version, so is the new version complete yet?

You've asked the forbidden and complicated question.

Imo, Fate Zero last as it's turned out better so far, imo.

The current series isn't complete yet and a movie of another route is going to come out.

If you watch the current series, Fate Zero will be spoiled for you in some ways, though. If you watch Fate Zero, you'll be spoiled to current series.

It's complicated.

I'll give you simple answers.

1. Fate/Stay Night's adaption is a horrible one. Don't recommend it if you want the actual story and characterization, otherwise Zero will seem a lot better than it when in fact, FSN is the one with better writting. TL;DR; VN is recommended.

2. Anyways, if you don't want the VN, you are missing out on the Fate route - the starting point of the series - and would be either forced to wait 'till HF movies come out or watch Zero first that isn't recommended.

3. Fate/Stay Night is what you watch first. It's the main story. Zero is an addition that shows you how it lead up to the events of the main story. Call it a flashback of some sorts. You don't need Zero to understand absolutely anything in F/SN and it spoils you on a lot of plot twists in F/SN. Also, there are quite a lot of terms or events in Zero that could either make no sense or give you false ideas without F/SN. Also while Zero is great even without F/SN knowledge, Zero becomes a LOT better with F/SN knowledge as some events in it become a lot more clearer, there are a lot of parallels between Zero and SN characters and Zero is an addition to the thematical discussion and message of F/SN.

TL;DR; Anime is horrible. Terrible adaption of story and characterization. Recommending the VN, but if you don't want to read it, then I guess you could watch the anime. Fate/Stay Night is meant to be read before Zero as both authors agree upon.

And what is this UBW people are talking about? Is it a remake?

And what is this UBW people are talking about? Is it a remake?

It's the second route of Fate/Stay Night.

What is a route? Well, for an example, it's a common thing that Visual Novels have multiple routes, as in paths that the story follows. Each route or ''path'' has different events happening, but is ultimately the same story even if it focuses on different things, has different events and a different ending than the other story paths or routes. It's more so a ''what if'' type of thing, same story, different path. The only common thing routes share are how they begin. Another common thing concerning routes is that every route has a different heroine.

UBW is, like I said, the second route of UBW who's heroine is Rin. The first route is Fate, the second is UBW and the third is HF. Fate's heroine is Saber and HF's heroine is Sakura.

This new anime is adapting the UBW route while the old anime was adapting the Fate route, but started mixing in events from the other two routes in it's adaption and becoming less and less canon which is why the old anime is even worsely receieved than the current anime.
