Why did Naruto have to be an orphan?

- The only reason Minato had to die was because it was impossible to seal all of the nine tails power into a new born baby. So Reaper Death Seal was the only way to split up the nine tails.
- Kushina was already dying due to tailed beast extraction.

So couldn't Kushina use the reaper death seal instead. She's the Uzumaki sealing master is she not? She was already dying anyway, so it should have worked. Simply use RDS, she seals herself, along with half of the nine tails chakra, and then Minato uses the 8 Trigrams seal to do the rest.

And presto, Naruto grows up with a Hokage as a father, and still would be a jinchuuriki and the child of prophecy. Except this time he'd have a better teacher than Jiraya :|

Would this not have worked? Or am I missing something.

Just to clarify, I know they both had to die for plot and story telling purposes. What I'm asking is if what I just said makes sense? Could Narutos parents death have been avoided by Kushina simply performing the sealing herself.

All heroes/protagonists (and most of their counterparts as well) are in situations like that. They have either lost their original parents, lost one of their parents, or are neglected by their parents (or some other fourth thing that I am forgetting).

Also, I don't think Minato would have been able to re-seal Kurama in Kushina.

Minato can transfer an entire bijuu to someone else. Transffering some of his chakra for her to use to for the demon seal would have been no problem for him.

She still counted as a jinchuriki in the sense, she was connected to Kurama now. Unlike Gaara who died and cameback to life. So even if she didn't have Kurama, because of the sheer fact she was Kurama's jinchuriki she isn't able to use RDS, could be the seal or her body not being able to survive without Kurama.

That honestly makes no sense. Also that's kind of just speculation, nothing of the sort was said. There's no beast inside her any longer, so she isn't a Jinchuuriki.

Minato was also almost completely out of chakra. In fact Kushina had more at that point. Minato wanted to put up a barrier but his chakra was low, so Kushina did it instead. So I don't think that was the issue.

He implied her as a Jinchuriki, when he said " only a non-jinchuriki like me". Maybe its a requirement of RDS or something, that you cannot be a jinchuriki.

Kushina = was going to die either way without kurama , since she is a jinchuriki

Because he had Sakura, a medical ninja.<< that is the only factor that was missing in Minato/Kushina. Since the Sage implied he isn't reponsible for Naruto getting better.

And then we also don't know if Minato by himself can seal Full Kurama, that he isn't the jinchuriki for.

In all stories the main hero has to have struggles and hardships. It makes them more relatable.

If Sasuke grew up with perfect parents and his clan was never murdered by his Brother and Obito, would it still be the Sasuke his fans have come to love?

If Naruto grew up with his parents and never became the Kyuubi Jin and thus be treated as an outcast and was simply the child of prophecy destined to save the world, would we or his fans have cared to read it?
