Interesting theory, but I think he is some kind of clone, because Itachi was too young to have kids when he massacred his Clan. I think the word "lovers" was just metaphorical, and could have been lost in translation.

Although your theory would explain why he is so angry at Sasuke, a clone shouldn't be emotionally attached to him, or should it?

I agree on that, but there was like 5 years - or was it more? - between the massacre and his part one appearance, it could have happen then. That wouldn't make the kid too young to be an antagonist imo, nor an unreasonable age for Itachi to have conceived a child with a woman.

Well Itachi is 5 years older than Sasuke right? So he was 18 in his part one appearance, I think it's more plausible if he conceived in part 2, when he was in his early 20s.

Yup, which is why he hasn't just killed him, that'd make sense considering how ridiculously OP Sasuke is at this point, it wouldn't make sense for him to not have been able to finish them off.
