1. Shakky commented that every Supernova would have had to go through difficulties that were like the Strawhat's, meaning they would have needed similar growth in order to overcome them.

2. Based on personality and possession of Haoshoku

3. Because he was Dragon's son. Akainu didn't care about who Luffy was specifically, he called him "Dragon's son" almost every time while referring to him, and targeted him and Ace for, and he said this reason himself, "the blood he carried." Akainu said even if everyone else escaped, he wouldn't let them get away, meaning he would try especially hard for them as opposed to the likes of Marco, Ivankov and the other commanders. It had nothing to do with Luffy's strength.

4. Because Whitebeard liked Luffy and because he was the last remaining remnant of Ace's will. Once again, not because of Luffy's strength.

5. That's a legit point, he had good genes

6. Good enough a point
Charisma, being similar in personality to Dragon, and having Dragon's blood isn't gonna help Luffy in VS matches where the opponent is dead-set on defeating/killing him.

Luffy and Law are more or less on the same level. Luffy can punch harder and has more durability. Endurance is a tricky area, is Law inferior because his DF drains him, or are they even because he can continue fighting while close to death and despite his DF constantly draining him? Other than that, their capabilities are more or less at the same level. Luffy can cause more destruction, but that's not all that matters in overall strength. If you're determining who's stronger by who'd win in a fight, it can go either way, but Luffy's fighting style puts him at a disadvantage against Law. For example, Gear 4 can do heavy damage to Law, or Law can take advantage of Gear 4's build-up rather than standing and watching like Doffy did, and cut him before he even has a chance to go full Bounceman. Law has shown to be able to keep up with Gear 2 during the Red Hawk tactic and the Gamma Knife tactic via Shambles, and Gear 3 has too many openings(this is the worst thing Luffy can do while fighting Law).
I don't know why you're acting like G4 takes awhile to activate. It took like 5 secs to activate, and Luffy can move around while doing it.

So basically Law has to act like a coward and kill him before he even initiates G4 to win? Dear lord this section and their excuses.

OP characters have achieved speeds where 5 seconds isn't even that short of a time. Overheat traveled several kilometers in a less than a couple seconds, and Luffy and Law were countering that. It also doesn't take Law more than a few seconds to do a simple swing. While Luffy's arm is expanding, while his body is inflating, while his arm is being pulled into his body, Law can counter.

This is nonsense. Taking advantage of an opening and a flaw in your opponent's fighting style is being a coward? Was Doflamingo a coward for taking advantage of the opening in Gear 3 by dodging it and attacking instead of just letting it hit him? Ironic that his post is an actual an excuse in itself.

Maybe coward was the wrong word. But basically Law can't beat G4 Luffy so he attacks him while its initiating, how in the hell does that put him and Luffy on par with each other? He's just killing him before he even gets to use his full power.

Luffy can just use powerful G2 attacks to incapitate Law for a few secs.

Because it means Law is capable of defeating Luffy while in a combat situation. Whether or not you win a fight is determined by strengths and weaknesses. Is your strength enough to overwhelm your opponent into defeat? Are your weaknesses enough to exploited, leading to defeat? It is a combination of these two things that determine whether or not you win a fight, same deal with openings.

Having large build-ups, both in initiation and during certain attacks is a weakness of Gear 4, and weaknesses can be exploited. When Teach pulled Ace towards him and Ace used St. Elmo's Fire to damage him by throwing two spears at him, Ace was taking advantage of a weakness in Teach's fighting style and ability. When Akainu attacked Ace with magma, he was taking advantage of a weakness and a strength. Doflamingo having his clone attack Luffy from behind while he was focusing on his Gatling was taking advantage of an opening. Vergo damaging Smoker by attacking the smoke he created was taking advantage of a weakness. Do you have problems with any of these?

Also note that I said this is if you are considering their ranking based on who defeats who. They both have a likely chance at defeating each other, albeit for differing reasons, but both all the same. So, by this standard, they are more or less on the same footing.

In terms of capabilities, they are also more or less the same. Law might be physically slower, but he's shown that his teleporting more than makes up for this. Law may be physically weaker, unable to cause the destruction Luffy can with his pure brute force using his own, but his DF's cutting and Takt abilities make up for this, as he can accomplish many of the same effects with these powers. Basically, Luffy does what he does with brute force, and many people take this to mean that this means that he's stronger or overall better. That's not the case. Luffy gets his end results with brute force, and Law gets his with haxxed and very particular abilities. Law is more suited for quick, precise battles, while Luffy is more suited for long-overdrawn battles where he can just throw his weight around.

Luffy can just use powerful G2 attacks to incapitate Law for a few secs.

Law can keep up with Gear 2 just fine using Shambles to avoid a blitz and attack Luffy with the opening that creates.

This is exactly the reason why I think Law will reach his 'limit' far faster than Luffy. It might sounds crude but to have a guy constantly besides u who has 1 shot techniques would lessen the tension a bit. This is why I believe his growth will be halted to a degree..
Like seen if u reach a certain level like Doffy u can fight without worrying to much about the ope's haxness. U can kind of say Law will be a victim of his own DF.. But ofcourse this is just speculation, only Oda knows for sure

Could also work the other way. Like you said, people at Doffy's level can avoid the haxness. As such, Law will need to keep on growing in order to keep up. If Oda truly wants him to be Whitebeard's parallel to Roger's, then he's gonna have to keep up, which means his growth will have to keep on happening. But yeah, like you said, all we can do is wait to see what Oda does in the future.

I see what you mean now, and I guess that makes sense. I will just leave that topic alone for now and just talk about the chapter, so how do you feel about all DFs having an awakened level?

I wonder if Chopper will ever achieve an awakened form like the ID jailers.

It's till a hard to grasp concept to be honest
the possibilities seem endless
Does it work on humans? Is it something lasting? Can Luffy Transform Zoro's swords in too useless rubber sword dildos?

I think Haki can prevent people from being effected, or else Doflamingo could just turn Luffy into a pile of strings.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. Maybe it can be awakened in different ways for different DFs. Maybe Luffy in the future will have complete mastery of the elasticity of rubber. Ocular magnification may be possible. But man this sure does open up a hell of a lot of possibilities for every DF user. Oda did the right thing by going in this direction with different fruits, maybe this will make Chopper turn into an actual human for his awakening. Can you imagine Robin awakening her Hana hana no mi? I hope Oda knows how to execute this, and I really hope every body and there momma WONT awaken their DFs like haki. Though I hope the possibility is open for every one.

Wow people sure did underrate Luffy didn't they. Man its just like me and you said, I wonder how the haters gone at now.

Actually there are still people claiming that Law will be healed and show up to save Luffy, or that Sabo will show up, or that Zorro will jump in the fight.

There was a whole thread on it a while back.

Back to the issue of the awakening, I would assume that the usefulness would be that Luffy can turn objects into rubber and bounce them like projectiles, like a pin ball field. Make objects bouncing around the battlefield, it would be good for enclosed spaces against large enemies like Big Mom.

Well I heard it was just objects he turned into strings. Regardless thats still very OP, and he said Luffy was nowhere near to Awakening so I hope Luffy saves this either for the battle with Kaido or much later in the story. This should be the power up that puts him on Admiral/Yonko level and higher.

I doubt before Kaidou, he just got the Gear 4 upgrade, this probably won't happen for another saga or two.

The author likes a bit of space between power upgrades.

(I am pretty sure that the spoilers said that Doflamingo turned people into string, we made need to wait for the chapter to be sure.)

Not surprised but anyways yeah I am very interested to know how Luffy will Awaken. Hopefully turning an object into your DF is just one ability of it and theres much more to it than that.

I agree this needs to be something Oda holds off for Luffy specifically until many many arcs from now. This series still has some ways to go and Luffy Awakening when it was even stated he was nowhere near that level would be crazy. He still needs space to grow.
